Does anyone know of any *still free* image hosting svcs available? I notice ebay is now charging through their image hosting and AW now charges. Arrgh!! Any recommendations where I can list an item on ebay w/o paying to list my picture? Thanks for any input? Also, I wasn't sure if I understand ebay's rule about the first picture being free. Do they mean that the first picture per listing is free or the first pic in multiple listings is free? Thanks.

There sure are! But the present policy of censorship here doesn't allow the promotion of competing sites...fear I guess!
There are some excellent choices and you may just find that your pics will look better on your auctions too! I used to upload my pics here and I always wondered what I was doing wrong that by the time they got to the auction they didn't look nearly as good. Come to find out it was not MY doing...

So you can't list those places? How will I find them then? I just tried goto.com where I used to list on occasion and they don't seem to be in the auction biz any longer. Too bad!! What's this world coming to?

Harvestmoon - goto.com is no longer free, but I ended up signing with them anyway. The auction service is Channelfusion.
I tried to make it with a combination of using ebay for one photo and free sites for others, but it just got to be more headache than it was worth since I have upped my volume.
I liked goto in the past and decided on them because I do not want to pay a percentage of my sales prices to my auction assisting program.

Thanks, keziak. I am not sure if I understand the free listing on ebay. Does that mean that the first pic is free and you have to pay for all others, or does it mean one free pic per listing. If it's one pic per listing free, that's ok since I mostly use one pic. Anyway, I did find a free image hosting svc online that I hope will eliminate any extraneous charges. Thanks again.

If you have an Internet Service Provider, you probably have 3-5 megs (MB) of storage space that you can put pictures in. Virtually all ISPs provide space to their dial-up or DSL users. You need a small program to transfer files to and from the storage space, might cost you $30 (and there are some free ones out there too). It's as easy as connecting to the internet, click-and-drag your picture file, and voila! It's there. With all the other nickles and dimes going out to eBay and Billpoint and PayPal and USPS, why pay for pics?
The other advantage to this arrangement is, you have direct access to the pics throughout the auction, they download often more quickly than they would through a busy auction server, and??? well probably other reasons too.

Unless you want your pictures killed in the middle of your auctions, you need to read the tos of any "free" hosting site you plan on using very carefully. If they have a prohibition against "remote loading", or "doing anything to remove banners (which eBay does have in their code)", you might wake up one morning and find little red X's where your pictures where. Ask the folks who where using Tripod, or AngleFire, or a number of other "free websites".
I bit the bullet and now pay $5.00 a month for 60 megs of space that I am free to use for anything but smut or bootleg software.
Since AW provides picture services, I'm not sure I can post the url to the service I use without "putting my posting priv in jepardy" (Moderator, I've never asked permission for anything before, but can I??? Pretty please???)
