In my TOS AND in my email to the winning bidder I state "Shipping DOES NOT include insurance. If you would like insurance, please add $1.10 up to....not responsible if not insured" and so on. My TOS are short and sweet, and easy to read. For the third or fourth time I just had a bidder pay with Paypal (just shipping, no extra for insurance) and THEN state, "I hope this includes insurance."
I told her I would go ahead and ship her item tomorrow, but to please send the $1.10 for insurance thru Paypal or snail mail. I don't know if this p*%sses off the buyers, but I'm tired of losing little bits of money here and there!
Would you other sellers let it go or not? As a buyer, would this make you angry?

I dunno... I sorta feel like it's the sellers responsibility to get the merchandise to the winning bidder after good payment has been recieved.
If you don't want to self insure your packages... then you probably ought to consider including the cost of insurance automatically in the shipping fees that you state in your listing descriptions.

No, you're not nitpicking. As a seller I'd be irritated, too, and I think you've done the right thing by asking them to pay for the insurance via PayPal or snail mail... and it's very flexible of you to offer the mail option.
As a buyer, if a seller asked me to do that I wouldn't be offended. I'm pretty easygoing, though, and some people get upset over silly things. If anyone gets upset, just remember it's their problem and their fault for not reading. If you had a long TOS not reading it all would be understandable, but short and sweet deserves reading carefully.

I think its a bit nit picking on one hand since your TOS Says buyer pays Insurance if wanted.
my self use the same type of terms but if the buyer don't include insurance payment and im in doubt I usually pay it myself.
I would never state "not responceable if not insured"
Two reason One is if the item is insured your not responcable because if there is damage insurance pays.
one the other hand your saying if the buyer dont insur your not responceable SO as a buyer i will be asking just when are you responcable. http://www.Dman-N-Company.com

eastwest--You might want to proof your letter for spelling, grammar, punctuation and incomplete sentences. "Through" not "threw" ... etc.
I've seen this on some auctions, and it might give you a better chance of getting your items insured.
"Insured Priority Mail is $X.XX. If you do not want insurance, please deduct $1.10. I am not responsible for uninsured items."
If they're dumb enough to read only the dollar amount you put in on your current TOS, they're too dumb to deduct $1.10 if they don't want the insurance!
That's it. Don't even mention the option of shipping without insurance.
Those who don't want to pay for it will ask you to drop the insurance. At that time, you can inform them that you will do so only after they reply by email to you stating that they are choosing to decline insurance, and that they are accepting responsibility for the item in the event of loss or damage.
