Sure I LOVE the PRAISE!!

BUT......

Must a person put my first NAME in the feedback????

Maybe it doesn't bother some, but from a privacy standpoint, I HATE IT!!

Granted, I'm sure it's not that big a deal privacy wise, but I still HATE IT!!!

I can't complain... my first name IS my USER I.D. *smile*

But I understand what you're saying... it doesn't seem right for someone to make that choice for you. (give everyone you're name).

I believe technically, it's against the rules to include real world identifying information in the feedback comments.

If it really concerns you... there's a chance you could have those comments REMOVED. (but it would remove the entire exchange - including any feedback you have left for the individual AND take away the "grade" by whatever point that particular feedback exchange affected your score and theirs).

eBay will only remove it if the infraction occured after the new feedback policy was posted. I tried to have feedback removed in my file that had my full name, home address and both emails and mentioned the FBI and eBay were investagating me (all BS from a wacko) but eBay would do nothing because they were place before the new feedback rule.
Good luck I hope you can get it removed.

It's not such a big deal that I'll try to have it removed. It's just annoying. A pet peeve, if you will.

I don't mind, but my first name is part of my user id and it's not an uncommon name.

I've had people use my first name in my feedback. It doesn't bother me. I figure they're just trying to be friendly and make it more personalized or something.

Besides, so what if someone sees my first name? Anyone who does business with me has more than that info. anyway. And those who haven't won my auctions can't request any personal info. anyway.

i'm with bj. several people have used my first name, and i also figured they were just being friendly. i don't see any harm.

haven't gotten to the other thread yet, but it does seem funny that tea4u started both a 'feedback pet peeve!' and a 'what's with this feedback obsession' thread and the same time.

At what level does OBSESSION begin?
To HATE someone using your first name?
To feel it is an invasion of privacy that someone might actually know your first name?
Newsflash...they probably know your last name and address, too!
sheesh!
Sounds like more than "an obsession" to me!

Many of my buyers refer to me as Joe B. That is how i sign all my emails. It's not like they posted your home address, last name, recent medical/criminal record.

Just one question when you have checks, moneyorders, sent who do they address the letter and make the check or MO out to?

Is a first name that big of a deal?
Mine is listed along with my last name and mailing address in all my auctions for those bidders who have email problems.

They can never claim they didn't know where to send payment.

Ebay's rule against it is probably ok, even though it wouldn't bother most of us. What I like to see in the feedback is reference to the item like "great doll", "nice watch", or "great deal on the ......".
