Hi yall:
I know someone here will know the answer and I need to hear it, even if its a "no way".
I have a buyer from Japan that owes $71.50 and wants to an online method to pay. He does not have a US bank account, and does not use credit cards. Are there any payment services that he can use from his Japan account? I tried reading TOS and Paypal, Bidpay and Billpoint. Billpoint and Bidpay are a no-nos, I never found information at Paypal.
Does anyone know of a service he can use?
Thanks!!
Ben

No credit card? Then BidPay, BillPoint, and PayPal aren't options for him. I can't think of another service either.

Well, I'm not sure this can be done & you should check with PayPalDamon.
What is he opens a checking or money market account w/PayPal (perhaps he can do some kind of wire transfer thing), then uses that account to pay you?

Even if there is a way, don't do it. You're only setting yourself up to be burned.

Postal MO's are easy to get in Japan, and that's what the majority of my high bidders from Japan send.

Thanks for the input.
JoeJapan: I truly do not see the humor in your post and there was absolutely no need for it. As an idiot, i sent this URL for my customer to watch or join.
I apologize to my customer on behalf myself and the other fine folks here. There is always one bad apple......

Maybe he can send an echeck thorugh paypal.
But you should wait a few days to make sure its good.
OTOH he could just mail you cash, registered mail.

Try BidPay to send electronic Money Orders.
The below is from their site.
http://www.bidpay.com/faq.htm#2
Q. Does BidPay handle transactions outside of the United States?
A. Yes, BidPay accepts payments from international customers with transactions that settle in U.S. currency and delivers money orders to sellers that are based in the United States and Canada.
Please note: While it is true that the vast majority of our sellers are located in the United States and Canada, we will now send payments internationally to major markets (with good Postal Delivery Systems) such as Germany, France, Spain, Italy, UK, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, Taiwan, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Holland and Japan. We WILL NOT mail payments to sellers in remote locations or countries with poor postal systems and this includes all of the Caribbean, Central and South America, Africa or the Middle East.
YOU MUST CHECK WITH THE SELLER BEFORE SENDING ANY INTERNATIONAL PAYMENT. The seller MUST register with us here and the seller must agree to accept a Western Union US$ International Money Order

The buyer needs a CC to pay with BidPay.

You might want to look at propay or payingfast. I think Payingfast is cheaper and they give the seller $2 for recommending them, so you might want to pass that $2 to your customer. You will get a money order or traveller's check, depending on which you use, so you have no worries about getting burned.

Have him wire transfer the money from his bank account (I assume he has one) directly into yours - just make sure your bank doesn't charge for RECEIVING wires. Most banks only charge to send, but I've heard of some that do charge to receive as well. All he needs is your ABA routing # and your checking account # - both are located on the bottom of your checks. The ABA # is the eight or nine digits that precede your account #.

propay or payingfast
no credit card was the key element in the title. Neither company mentioned will work for this japanese buyer.

I dont know about propay but payingfast is specifically set up to use bank accounts primarily as the payment source. I don't see why it won't work. They will charge 4.49 for the service and refund the seller $2, so if the seller gives this to the customer, his cost will be 2.49. This should be cheaper than a wire transfer charge.

The buyer is in Japan. If PayingFast.com can accept an eCheck from a japanese bank then they've managed to accomplish what none of the other services have managed to pull off.
It would also be in PayingFast's best interest to remove the terms allowing only US citizens to use their personal checking account, if they can accept payments from a japanese bank.

Uaru: You're right. They're only set up for U.S. payers. That leaves wire transfer and my bank charges me $10 plus 1% for those.

If they have Western Union in Japan, he could always use that. I had a buyer from Germany pay via Western Union. I had to make a trip to a Western Union location to get my money, but otherwise it was a safe way for both of us.
