Any suggestions on what works best?

depends on what you sell, but mostly 7 and 10.

3-5 if your item is something trendy hot (not stolen hot).

7 for most items.

10 if it's big ticket, rare or in a group with lots of other items.

More important is when it ends.

Our best times are on the weekends, Sat. afternoon of Sunday evenings. (never on holidays)


Of course I could be wrong.........

The way I see it The longer the item is listed the more potenial bidders.
I don't perceive ebay as fixed community with a closed group of bidders who search for their favorite item's daily but rather a community where peaple stop by when they get a chance....every couple days...once a week...onece a month.
I like to do a 10 day action on all but the most trival of items.

I agree with skip . . . . and I keep thinking of something someone here posted a while back, when the ten-cent charge was added (wish I could remember who said it) . . . if the extra three days gets you just one bid, it'll be more than ten cents.
