I know I put this another message but thought it important not to be lost in a long message board.
What's you thoughts on this as sellers. Ebay has eliminated our ability to have buyers contact us directly through our auctions with out their "Big Brother" approach. But what if we wanted to make other sites more profitable by putting notes in our end of auction (Ebay will probably start sending them out for us LOL)like suggestions for buyers to try out the other sites. Let them know that these smaller sites might have items priced less because of less traffic, or let them know you have other similar items on.......to check them out and do a link there?????? Maybe we need to start (I'm sure a lot of you have) putting your web page link there. Also list a lot of items at give away prices just for the exposure of sending out those end of auction notices with the new ideas for auction sites for buyers. We as sellers have a lot more Power than Ebay realizes! And we don't have to switch everything until we see these other sites getting better, or Ebay realizing the mistakes they have made.

I think it is unethical if not for ebay you would not have contact with buyer

Your power comes from the venue ebay provides to use it to draw buyers away is bitting the hand that feeds not only you but me to.

Hey I love selling on ebay but they aren't feeding us by offering a way to make a living and then changing all the rules. The idea of the site in the begining was great and Ebay was making money! People have a love of antiques and collectibles and things they would have to trot to many places to find. But putting people together was what made Ebay so much fun! Having fun and making a little money made it worth while to list there. Interaction between buyers and all and advertising your site as well which I am sure is just a drop in the bucket for ebay since they get so much traffic. Eliminating that one means for small people to pick up enough money to keep it worth while stinks. In order to sell more on Ebay which is good for Ebay now costs us more by all the extra fees we now pay for listing programs, image hosting, inventory and all that were once free but now are not. Now was not the time for Ebay to eliminate links when sellers were just getting use to the extra costs we now have to pay let alone the increase in fees by Ebay. I can understand the increase in listing fees by ebay but can't they see that sellers JUST got socked with all the additional fees we have to pay to the other companies just to save time and list more for Ebay?????

But when does our responsibility to ebay end?

The suggestion was this
But what if we wanted to make other sites more profitable by putting notes in our end of auction (Ebay will probably start sending them out for us LOL)like suggestions for buyers to try out the other sites.

Putting links/notes in our end of auction
email. That means ebay got the listing and the final value fees for the item that drew the buyer. What more should they expect?

I liken it to putting an ad in the newspaper. If someone comes and buys what I have up for sale, do I owe the newspaper more money if they also buy something else from me? I can have no other contact with this buyer unless I put another ad in the paper?

I feel if I sell the item I have up for auction, and ebay gets their money out of it, that transaction is done.

~Not barrelracer on ebay, don't pick on them!~

jlb444: Any time I have items listed on other venues, I ALWAYS include links to those venues in my End of Auction notices.

It's just good business sense!

Thanks for the reminder though, because I think this is an important practice that other sellers should adopt WHILE THEY STILL CAN!!!
