want a negative!! Sorry moderator if this doesnt belong here, but again, there is no where to post regarding half.com.

Well so far at half.com, I had 5 sales over the weekend, everything seems cool, until one of the orders, I noticed the address...IT WAS FROM GERMANY! I thought half.com DOE NOT accept buyers from Germany! How am I going to ship this DVD to Germnay for media mail of 1.75??!!! And with him changing his address to look like a US address (he added a Alabama zip and claim the state was AL, when the city was Humberg Germany), will it even get to him? I think not!

Cancelling is easy, BUT he CAN rate me! I sold/shipped over 4 things already but no one rated me yet. ): And IF this liar (I say that for he violated Half.com's TOS by lying his address and also not listening to their rules of not shipping outside of US) gives me a bad rating, IT IS UNJUSTIFIED!!!

Does anyone know if half.com has a safeharbor like thing that might listen to what I have to say so they can suspend this buyer osother sellers wount get conned into shipping something to Gemrany for 1.75? Plus the fact he mis-wrote his address soit will get lost anyway so by suspending him I can save alot of half.com seller's from having a headache? And to perhaps remove a negative feedback if (most likely he will)he gives me one?

Also would YOU have accept this sale, even though you would lose ALOT of money on shipping and the fact there is a real good chance it will get lost for he wrote a german address with a US zip code?

Forward the email with the address to [email protected] and ask them to cancel the sale (and the buyers account) because the buyer is trying to pull a fast one.

Let them know that a disguised GERMAN SHIPPING ADDRESS was given and that you have no plans to send the DVD outside the USA unless half.com sends you an additional $27.50 for the shipping expenses. (that should cover it nicely).

Economy (Surface) Letter Post
(Rate for pieces 16 ounces or less) 4 - 6 Weeks $3.80 Max. length 24", Max. length, height, depth combined 36"

to Germany.

I would go ahead and send the thing to him, then let half.com know. Surely the DVD does not weigh more than a pound? Doesn't a DVD qualify as media mail/book rate? edited to add: a half.com site to post gripes would be nice. I anticipate having some probs with that arena myself.

My only comment would be "Have you checked out your shipping costs to Germany" A birthday card to NY has cost more than some of my lots to USA.

Hi,

well even IF I ship it to him, I amcertian it will NOT get to him, for the way he put the address, the post office will try to deliver it to Alabama, and will either get returned or lost. ):

I would definitely contact Half.com and make them aware of this situation. Number 1 you shouldn't have to ship to Germany and Number 2 you can't be sure you have a valid address. The ball should be put in Half.com's court on this one. Good Luck!

IS there a Humberg in Alabama? I don't know.

If not email your buyer and calmly bill for small Global Priority shipping PLUS Confirmation of Mailing ($5.00 PLUS .75) reduced by the amount you've already received.

Also state "please check the address below and confirm if it is correct", paste in address you were sent and see if they reply.

Jimmykidsmom,

half.com isnt like ebays, half gets the money from the buyer, I dont, plus I dont think you can contact the bidder until AFTER the sale has gone through.

I sell hundreds of books a week on half.com and if I received a buy from someone overseas
There is NO WAY I would send the book We are not compensated for International
Postage from Half.com.

Plus Half.com clearly states when you join "Membership limited to persons residing in the 50 United States"

There is a "Hamburg" in Alabama in Perry County. Maybe that is where it is supposed to be?

Hi!

Well the street address was NOT in English, so that was a tip off. And I made a mistake, it wasnt Humberg, it was actually BERLIN Germnay in Alabama? Hmmm, I think not. (:

Ironking ...
There's also a Rome in Georgia, but few ALbana perosns would put Berlin, Germaly with an albam ZIP code

It's possible the buyer made a mistake, but clarify with half.com about the shipping address.

Hi, well I dont think I can post the actual street address, but I seriously doubt there is a street address in Alabama that is definetly in Germn language. It was NOT in English.

Maybe post the address he gave you but just leave out the identifying house #. Some places do have German names for streets as well as the town name.

Mr ***** *******

10717 is not a valid United States Zip Code. Just let Half.com this situation.

I don't understand why Germany is in there either. If he is German speaking he may put the number after the street or he may be a relative staying at that address and that is the way he writes it?

Sorry, I can't help you. Good luck.

I think that AL is a district in Berlin. www.stadtplandienst.de should help. Please check out your surface mail shipping costs to Germany. I guess you will be pleasantly suprised.

Hi greetingsfromUK

when I talked to my postral clerk on Sat, I was informed that surface mail to Germany was like 6.45, and it would take up to 7 weeks, which would be considered "unacceptable" by half.com standard of 14 day anyway. And half.com will only reinburse me by 1.75, so I will be losing money on this transaction from a buyer who shouldnt have bene buying in Half.com to begin with.

Plus it just dawned on me that I might be breaking half.com's TOS by dealing with a oversea buyer to begin with.

I have not consulted a map to see where Berlin, AL might be, or even if there is such a place.

I thought you might be interested in the fact that Mercedes Benz has a huge plant in Alabama just outside Tuscaloosa. Tuscaloosa is in the west/central area of Alabama.

There is now a large German population in that area, and I know for a fact that some of them are not terribly fluent in English.

I also know for a fact that they are much better in English than I ever will be in a second language.

It can't be MY "fault", I've NEVER owned a "fault"!

Ja, that's a German street address! It's "Prince Regent's Street".

Germany has 5-digit postal codes, like the USA. That postal code (in the USA) would be somewhere in the Maryland area.

Once More ~ 10717 is not a United States zip code. I looked it up and that zip code is not assigned to any town in the US at the present time.

This is a problem that should be dealt with by Half.com not by you. E-mail them with the address and they will deal with it for you.

My surface mail shipping costs for a CD in a case to USA are around $1.00. My Air Mail costs are about $2.10.I confess that I really do not know anything about Half.com, but I am in favour of International Trading.

Nowwhat and Abacaxi, I already contacted half.com yesterday, and today I got a form letter saying we dont currently take international buyers! thats it! Got nothing to do with my problem, so I will email them again, to get this buyer's account cancelled, but I do agree with you, it is THEIR problem, they SHOULD handle it, and I ALREADY KNEW this IS NOT a US address.

I wish we had a board for half.com, for we should have a board that knowledgable sellers at half.com like yourselves can help and perhaps we sellers at half.com can get together to make it a better place.

As for shipping cost to Germnay, it is expensive from the US ot Germnay for some reason. The DVD is in those big keep cases.

Is there a problem with International buyers. We pay US $ and pay promptly. I suggest you look at the countries PayPal now deals with.

My apologies for labouring the point, but you are trading in an International Market Place. International dealers are very happy to trade in US$. If you have a lot that I want, you will get top price US$ cash in the mail. I have traded US$ cash with many countries in the World and am very happy with that.

Ironking ~ Have you tried to contact the buyer? If you go to the transaction [it would be under recently sold items] and then click on Report a Problem, you can send an e-mail explaining that Half.com does not allow International Sales. I don't think you will receive a Neg but if you did I think Half.com would remove that if you pestered them enough.
