Well this was expected, this is what's up their sleeve. I received this article from Krause's Weekly Auction News. Any opinions? It reads as follows,
eBay to open online storefronts
Chief Executive Meg Whitman said eBay plans to open online storefronts as part of an effort to gain a greater share of retail sales.
Speaking at eBay's annual shareholder meeting, Whitman said the storefronts, which allow buyers to purchase items at a fixed price, are expected to launch sometime in the next quarter.
Whitman also said eBay plans to eventually roll Half.com into eBay. She said it didn't make sense to have eBay and Half.com remain separate platforms, with users having different identities and reputations on each site.
I think we all realize you are "into" sellyouritem, and I did check the site out and will say it is easy to use. I wish every other smaller auction site would add the option that sellyouritem.com has which allows you to easily transfer auctions from eBay to their site, that is a distinct advantage, although I don't see a great deal of action on that site, and I personally don't see it as a "comer." I think the only possible competitors for eBay are Yahoo, and perhaps Amazon but Amazon has been dead for so long I don't bother with it.

I expect that either Amazon or Yahoo auctions can work well alongside eBay or on their own -- its all a matter of how you use 'em. We have friends locally who don't sell on eBay at all but rather from Amazon and their own website. Its working well for them.
