Have any of you gotten an email telling you to find and delete the sulfnbk.exe file from your system, because it is a virus? The email is a hoax - don't delete anything. Read this:
http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/sulfnbk.exe.warning.html
I got this hoax email this morning, so I figure others have gotten it, too. The hoax was known a while back; the new twist is that a "launch" date for the virus is now given as June 1.

The Symantec link does discuss the possibilities of sulfnbk.exe being infected, too, and how to tell the difference. Whatever, don't just go deleting willy-nilly, based on one hysterical email. Think about it logically: the email tells you that the virus cannot be found by McAfee or Norton because it is set to launch on June 1. Now, really! Also, the emails generally admonish you (like mine did) to email the warning to everyone you've emailed in the last couple of months. Another sign that you should proceed cautiously.

And I thought the "Hoosier" virus was a joke, now I see how it can work.
Hoosier Virus...
Since Hoosiers can not program it works on the Honor System, Please e-mail the message to all your friends. Then delete all the files on your hard drive....

I hate to say it, but my DH, who I generally consider a very intellegent guy fell for it. I woke up at noon (I work nights) to his telling me I need to email everybody etc. etc....
The first thing I did was come here to find this thread.
Thank you birdwatcher for posting this!

Just a minute ago, in fact, from a customer. I'd read the earlier thread a couple of days ago, so was able to reassure her that she probably wasn't infected.
Poor thing had already notified hundreds of people she'd corresponded with in the past 2 months...

I just got another email from the customer who sent it to me this morning. Boy, was he embarrassed! He literally had dozens of angry responses. luvmy2bears, if you go to the Symantec link, I think they tell you what to do if you've already deleted the file. Looks like you're in good company!

There is a serious virus called windows going around and it starts slowing down your computer from the minute you turn it on. Do a file search for win.com or win.ini. If you have these files, you're infected.
