Hi i shipped an item to a customer and it got damaged in shipping. I have the insurance receipt where i had purchased insurance from the usps on this item.
i have never had to file before so could anyone help me and tell me how do i do this and what do i do about my customer.
Do i go ahead and refund her money or does she get the money from the postal insurance? Any and all help would be appreciated. This item sold for $20 not including the shipping and insurance charges which i know you don't get back.
By the way i packed this really well with bubble wrap and all so i know they will pay it i just don't know how to go about it.

Thanks

I'm in Australia so i'm not sure of the UPS protocol, but any insurer requires evidence, tell your customer to keep evidence that the item was well packaged.
Also read and understand the policy document before you tackle the claims officer.
GoodLuck

Your buyer takes the box, damaged item, all packing materials, and your name and address to their post office. The clerk will have them fill out and sign their part of the claim form, and the clerk will fill out the bottom portion. The P.O. will keep everything, even if the item can be salvaged (if multiple items were shipped, they'll only keep the damaged one, but the claim amount will be prorated).

The P.O. will then forward the claim for to you, and you complete and sign the upper portion. Take the claim form, insurance receipt, and auction printout to your P.O. If you're lucky, they might refund you on the spot, and then you can send money to your buyer! If you prefer, the P.O. will send a money order directly to the bidder.

Good luck!!!

You're welcome! I'm sorry to say that I know the procedure having gone through two P.O. claims myself--something I'm NOT anxious to repeat!!!
