My auction partner got one of these a couple days before someone took over her ebay account and ran up a bunch of bets. Several thousand dollars worth. Be on your guard....it got her kicked off ebay for a while and she had to go through appeals before she got back on again.

noshill....You got "6" of 'em!!!...I only got the one, and the address was not the same as yours..General net-paranoia (which has served me well over the years) makes me hesitant to give the full address & I don't know how to trace it..The end of the IP Host was bellatlantic.net I wonder if these are individual attempts or a bot?
Of course, eBay (timesensitive) has responded to my email & assure me there is nothing to worry about...Uh, I think I'll just keep a very close eye on my account for a while!

Hello Rancher ...
I wouldn't be terribly concerned. I've recieved 76 of those notices since September of '98.
None of them have amounted to a thing. I've made sure my password isn't a common word and I'm not concerned. I've started an e-mail folder just for change of password requests and it's almost gotten to be a game.
I'm convinced they are generated from folks who forget their user ID and somehow think it's mine. I have a common simple word for a user ID, thus the higher number of password change requests. I'm guessing that folks that have a less common ID have fewer or no requests.

I've gotten some people kicked off their ISP, and one person terminated from his company for this.
I have a ebay UID that many people would want (It's a popular cartoon character). I was lucky and got it the day ebay started using user ids. One PW change email might be a mistake. Any more and I consider it an intrusion attempt and trace the email/IP address back to the source. I send a copy of all emails to "[email protected]" along with a note stating that this was an obvious attempt to compromise my ebay account. Most are very helpful.
