I bidded on two auctions about a week ago, and just today, i find an e-mail from eBay "telling me" of 50 different auctions that I might wanna look into; the same items that I bidded on a WEEK AGO!!

What prey tell, is this?? Is this some way for eBay to cough up more revenue??

***eBay Introduces New Recommendations Feature***

Have you ever been frustrated by either getting outbid, or by forgetting to bid, on an item that you really wanted or needed? eBay's new Recommendations feature can help.

If you place a bid on an item and are the high bidder, we alert you on the bid confirmation page that we will send an email in case you do not win the item. You will receive this email within 24 hours of the close of the listing. The email will display a list of items that are similar to the one you bid on but did not win. It will also show you a list of other items the seller has listed on eBay.

You can indicate that you do not want to receive the Recommendations email by clicking the "No" option. We will remember that you have chosen not to receive this type of email
and will not send you another one until you tell us you want to receive it. If and when you decide that you want to receive a Recommendations email, all you have to do is click the "Yes" option on the bid confirmation page after you bid on an item and are the high bidder. We will remember your preference until you change it again.

We hope you enjoy this new feature.

It's an OPT-OUT... so that means bidders must know to OPT-OUT at the time they place a bid on an item if they don't want to receive the SPAM....er uhm, I mean "RECOMMENDATION".

Won't it be great when bidders get conditioned for eBay to "think" for them.... provide them with search results etc.... for their convenience, and then eventually bidders will get to PAY for some of these conveniences or special searches? *sigh* NOT!!!!!

NEW members don't remember what it USED to be like... and every wave of "newbies" registering at eBay gets held closer to eBays breast. One day, members (eBay registered Sellers AND Buyers) won't be able to do anything without eBay in the middle of it... they won't know how to survive outside of the venue that provides them with EVERYTHING.... of course, for a FEE.
