"Histoire de la Litterature Francaise" is the title of this one book. It is written totally in a foreign language, my dad says it's French, and it is really old. It's copyrighted '47. It is yellowed, and the cover came off when I was looking at it. The pages all seem to be there. I'm not taping the cover back on...

I'm wondering what something like this is worth, what it should be the starting price on ebay, and should I sell all these foreign books in a lot or seperately?? There are 3 total like this, the other two in much better shape.

redskinfan,

My French student daughter says the title means "The History of French Literature".

Don't know the answers to your other questions, but try www.freetranslation.com and you might be able to translate some particulars from the books.

I would think selling separately would bring more money.

Unless it is incredibly rare book, a book with a loose cover is valueless. I would toss it. (The yellowed pages aren't a good sign either.)

You might list the other two, as a lot, at a starting bid of $5 and see where that gets you.

A book published in 1947 isn't very old, and books don't gain value by virtue of their age alone.

Good luck with your auction.

I agree that the 1947 is not that old but I don't know that I would trash it. Is there any illustrations in it. Often the illustrations are on better quality paper and survive better over time. Is there any ads to the back pages of the book etc. Someone might be interested in it or through it as a bonus with the other two.... I hate to throw out books.
