I load auctions directly on the ebay pages. Today I keep getting a security warning re downloading something called ipix rimfire activeX control.

I click no I don't want it, then I get "input error" so I can't put up an auction.

Anyone know what this is all about? Is ebay doing something new?

Vinnie,

I don't know what rimfire is exactly, but I read that to use the new picture service you have to have Active X enabled, and I think it downloads something called rimfire to get it to work. But since there has been so many problems with people not being able to get the "new and improved" eBay picture service to work, eBay has posted a work around which I think includes using an old sell your item form. There are links to information and announcements on the ebay site map page.

Sorry I can't be of any real help. I don't use IPIX but just happened to read a blurb about it on one of the eBay Boards. Susan

Susan, you were of real help! I found a link to the old form on the announcements board.

(When using it you have to delete the last 0, zero, category in the URL in your browser window and type in the category you want, the re-click.)

Once again you have saved the day, thanks again.

http://listings.ebay.com/aw/listings/list/categories.html

Use these numbers. They are different than the ones on the category overview page found from the site map.

Vinnie, Thanks but it was pure dumb luck that I saw the eBay post.

I am glad you got it to work. Ebay is still screwing around with the whole IPIX thing so it may not work tomorrow though.

secondmouse, welcome to the club.

I don't want to install the activeX since I put my pix on my own ISP. But ebay's programming makes you do it unless you use the old sell item page. (BTW that's the fix for this if you want to use their current sell page: you gotta let the activeX download. I'm holding out til they fix that.)

ebay continues to make their site harder and harder to use. Probably more unstable, too, although it's hard to see how they can make it worse.

Thanks Vinnie for the update. I just got finished printing all the category #'s so I can bypass waiting a half hour for the page to half load then click on "if you can't see the classifications click here" and waiting some more!! I listed 10 auctions tonight.......in three HOURS!! New record, but not a good one! Good luck and glad I found you!

Hi!

I am soo glad I check the boards this AM. I thought I was crazy or even worse that my PC was giving me new problems. I wanted to list a new book w/o auctionwatch since I wasn't using a photo ( and why pay for what you are not using). I was not able to list through Ebay because of the ActiveX I kept on getting input error messages. Contacted ebay and they told be I have my security level set too high. It never was a problem before. So now I know that at least it is not me.
Also thanks for that catagory breakdown (with #'s page). I was sure one existed but I never knew how to find it.

Elaine
