Well...it was for a $3.00 transaction from a crooked seller on bidville. I can't believe they got my money back! It's wonderful!
I wonder if I have a chance at getting my money back from that big crook on ebay.....
This has been a good day

A good day until you find out that the $3.00 they recouped will be needed to cover their new fee increase...

Hopefully they'll do the same for me.
I bought something advertized as "Like-New..never used for public or home use.." and received it and it had clearly been in a public place for YEARS (and had the dust, rust and worn, dated stickers to prove it). Also had a fresh (smelly) coat of new enamel paint over a rusted metal undersurface.
I and a friend both pay-pal'ed half for two of these to the seller (won from eBay). Took him 7 days after payment to ship, then when I received them, they were not as advertized and missing parts that were described and shown in the picture.
I tried to email him 3 times in a week period... of course no reply back. So my friend and I submitted claims to PayPal. I got the "case #" reply today... so we'll see.
If the seller refuses to reply to PayPal, do they assume they were at fault? That seems to be his style so far. That would be great if we get it resolved.
I don't really want a full refund/ship back but I would have only paid about 1/3rd for the units based upon the condition received, not what I paid for what had originally been advertized.
(Unfortunately I paid from an existing balance so I cant even do a charge back. My friend can on his portion)

I haven't been paying any fees to paypal. After they wouldn't respond about that enourmous mystery payment, I downgraded to a personal account. Then I started accepting checks again. Most of my customers have been paying by checks and money orders.
It'll change, however, because I started doing global international instead of just Canada and U.S. I'll wait and see.
I refuse to take billpoint because of the greater risk of chargeback fraud. At least if you can show online d.c., paypal won't penalize ya.

redskinfan: How did you downgrade your account? Did you just close your acct. and open a new one?
This sounds like a great idea for me, considering that most people pay via billpoint now anyway.

The bad news is that seller protection is only offered to preferred & business accounts. Personal accounts are not afforded the thin veneer of "seller protection."

So what does seller protection mean anyway?? If I'm not protected...does that mean I don't have to worry about delivery confirmation anymore since I wouldn't be protected anyway??

Hi,
The information is correct---Premier/Business accounts are offered Seller Protection because they pay fees for the service.
All users can file a Buyer Complaint form, regardless of sourcing method (credit card, balance payment, etc). I would invite you to review the terms on the Buyer Complaint Process (can be found under the HELP section).

Seller protection means nothing to personal account holders. It means that paypal will instantly grab the money out of your account and you will have no way to stop them. Soon they'll also grab another $10 for their trouble.

The thing is, paypal makes it appear it applies to me by telling me to send only to confirmed address, etc. I still get all this mumbojumbo telling me that d.c. or online tracking will protect me. This is totally misleading.
