7 door latch sets with glass knobs on both sides. $20 sold for $70 with buy it now already!
Motorola pager - $1
Levi kids embroidered jacked $1
Bell system princess phones 50¢ each.
Bandanas 10¢ each.
1000 watt motor speed control $1
UHF video transmitter $3
Big bunch of nice hardback books 50¢ each
Two big bags of stainless escutchen buttons for 1/2 inch holes $1 each
Remington single shot bolt action .22 rifle that looks to have never been fired with beautiful walnut stock $45
Two Ray-o-Vac lanterns that have yellow and white flashers on one side and a fluorescent lamp on the other side. You can turn different combos on 5 ways - for $2 each.
I've found 2 copies (one sealed, one not)since I've been ebaying (3 years). That was a GREAT Find!!
Don't get in a big hurry to sell them, if you list too many of them too quick, you'll depress the market. (I've done this in the vintage computer catagories with stuff I got at school auctions, and kicked my self for it.)

And I bought this thingy that is old for a $1 BECAUSE I know it must be worth something...now if I can just figure out WHAT it is.
Then I got a serving platter of this OLD OLD silver/tin like material (My folks had a piece of something like it so I know its' OLD)...just don't know WHAT to call it..don't think it's silver?
Then I got some OLD BOOKS just because everyone on here keeps telling me they sell...course mine probably aren't the right ones.
Bought a CUPIE doll..was sure it was worth something...checked on ebay...nope.
Bought another OLD toy...don't know what it's called so don't know HOW I'll even explain it...sigh...
And THEN I found 50 MATERNITY clothes they were dying to get rid of ...held a straight face as I gave her $45. for all of them...

We had our first nice weekend in a month and there were far too many sales to attend. Some weren't even ready for business when I showed up [as in, when they were supposed to start].
I don't have the know-it-all to buy such various goodies, but I found some nice things in my area [books] such as 3 "Art Culinaire" cooking magazines [HC] and a huge pile of Scherenschnitte and cut-paper work patterns and booklets. The harried sellers glanced at my armload and said "$2". Good grief, even if I don't end up selling batches of them on ebay, the used bookstore will give me something for each one, and there are dozens!
A disappointment was a sale I drove 20 minutes to attend because it was a retired-something organization. There was some old stuff but nothing that I could tell was nice and vintage. Mostly just...old stuff, and no decent books.
I was also turned off, yet again, by the amount of material put out in dirty or unattractive condition such as filthy books, junky clothes, junk in general, and stuff put right down on wet grass. Ewww.

P.S. at one sale they had a whole box of educational CD Roms of the Jumpstart variety. I got one for my son but decided not to invest in the rest, even at $3-$4 each. That may have been a tactical error, but I just wasn't in the mood to spend a lot today.

Awesome day for books! The planet must have heard me say to my boarder, "Honey, I need to find a good haul of books pretty soon."
Went to an estate sale on the second day - tons of books left, and they were ready to deal. Walked away with about 4 boxes.
Also found a very old unused girl's journal type book that I have to research and see if it's something special or just a thing.
Another sale, young couple selling parents' books ended up with a few bags at about 20 cents a book.
Then at the Episcopalian Church sale, I was being careful because they wanted 50 cents a book, and just as I'd about filled one box, the woman came in and said, "Boxes of books, $1.00, paper sacks of clothes or anything else, $1.00." Walked out of there with three boxes of books, three bags of purses, ties, suede vests, etc. Felt guilty getting all that stuff for $6.00 - gave her $10, then made one more pass through, and found two very nice wall hangings.
The only bummer? They were giving away two refrigerators, and I surely need more freezer space (I have an old 60's GE w/a very tiny freezer), and I couldn't fit it in my truck. The town's 25 miles away. Still, a great day!!

Don't go to garage sales as my house is very "loaded" down with stuff from last year and the year before and the year before.
However, my favourite thrift story where I browse and of course buy
Won on silent auction: Return of Tarzan with mint d/h~$ 8.00 canadian turns out to be G&D 1915 worth $ 2.00 on ebay ( think I will wait to list on that one)~ first editions can sell upwards of $ 300.00+ american!
Bob Marley poster~ $ 1.00~ can't give them away ~ at least 200 per week and very few bids ~
grater~ $.10 unusual style ~ you turn a crank~ patent pending~ will check this out and sell maybe in the fall
old cookbook with cooking with a new anti-radiation stove or some such thing reprinted but first published in 1900's
All in all ~ I know why I don't go to garage sales~ I always think ~ WOW and get home and say oh oh~ but I learn about what may or not sell and would recognize a first edition tarzan book now! ( will try to sell on amazon when I get back on there! )and tarzan golden books "HOT" and if I ever see a tarzan very early comic~ I will run and grap it carefully.
Happy hunting next weekend , folks, unless you go out hunting on Sundays Too!

Little Tykes boat that rocks (double meaning)

Its a city sponsored garbage pickup, but to some its a holiday.Trucks cruise the streets packed with old mowers and tillers, barbeque grills and picnic tables. There are vehicles overflowing with "treasures"
I actually got my Mother in law in on the act last night. Her husband was a hard sell though,it took the trailer hitch to hook him. "Jeez, why dya' suppose anyone would throw THAT away???I was gonna buy one of these."
They divide the city into 4 weeks/sections.So,if you pick up something the first week (we live in the last section)and it doesn't work, etc, you just leave it out when your week comes.
I saw snomobiles,freezers,various metal pieces,car parts/stereos,rims,tons of wood,you name it.
The social soiree' of the year, and I attended in all my glory.

Don't kick yourself. I keep seeing ads for these for just $3.99 each brand new. So you were right to pass on the rest of them. :0)

tiggressoflove:
Are you serious? Are you sure we are referring to the same toy? It is not an actual clock. It is a toy clock...sort of like a puzzle. The numbers come out and snap back in. Are we talking about the same Care Bears toy here? Thanks.
