hI...
Today I was out garage saling with my new 'auctionwatch eye'...taking the time to look at what others didn't.

And I found this purse...I was SURE it would be worth bucks...but researching ebay it doesn't appear to be.

Could someone help tell me if this is a FIND or a rip off

Here goes:
Genuine snakeskin purse by J.RENEE. In original box...never used. Originally sold for $92. in 1989..however the receipt in the box they only paid $62.

It even has the following on a piece of paper:
'This accessory is an original by J.Renee and made from genuine snakeskin leather. We hope you are satisfied with your purchase and we thank you for having chosen one of our products. This is an article made with extraordinary aesthetic qualities and manfactured according to the best craftsman skills. We sincerely hope that you enjoy this article and care for it as you would any fine leather by keeping it in a dry environment. We suggest that you care for this accesory using J. Renee reptile and eel skin cleaner and conditioner.'

The box-EVERYTHING is in mint condition....

What do you all think?

Thanks group!
Carole

J. Renee makes expensive shoes and handbags. They are still in business.

Whoever got the purse may have gotten it onsale for $62. I have seen J. Renee puses sell for as much as $200. Most aver over $100

I think you may have a find. I don't know what it will sell for on ebay though.

Bringing this to the top.
Anyone experienced in purses? Since it was purchased in 1989 would it be 'vintage'?

Thanks

The prices for similar items sold recently on eBay are very low, in my opinion. This might be worth holding on to until the Fall when it would make a good Christmas present. Especially since you have the original tags. It would be a shame to let it go so cheap. (But, if you do, let me know!)

I wouldn't really consider it vintage. I would take misscandle's advice and hold on to it until the fall. I own clothing stores and get to see new fashions about 6 months in advance, so I know what designers are foisting on the public. The 80's look is big now and will be even bigger in the fall. If it has that look you may be able to get a good price for it.
