anyone using- how is it compared to lets say paypal?

they are free and with paypal new increased rates to "simply" their ways-it is looking enticing- but i am would think that buyers would not use- sine they have to pay the fees, and are t hey including their address and auction #'s -for ease in processing.

any comments welcomed please
thanks

I signed up for it, but I can't seem to get it to accept my CC info - always tells me something is "wrong" with it - but there is nothing wrong with it anywhere else!

C2it is free for three months. Thereafter it is only 1% if a citibank card is used. They give the buyer $10 when the first payment is made, which covers the first $1000 in fees. They have better seller protection than any credit card based payment service or a merchant account. I have detailed info on my site in the payment service ratings section. AW won't allow me to post the direct URL.

I would welcome any competition to PayPay, but I really don't know about c2it. The first big hangup is their join page, where you have provide two phone #s, your SSN, and your DOB before you can send or receive one cent.

My second hangup is that the buyer pays the fee, but the first hangup is so huge that others may not matter. I think there are whole lot of people who will not be willing to provide that much information to a website, even if it does feature the "state-of-the-art security" of Citibank.

I signed up for AOL QuickCash in April, and really didn't promote this payment option until AW started their promotion. I had two transactions yesterday by c2it/AOL QC, and they went very smoothly. The notification emails are concise and contain all the info like other online payment services. One feature that I think is especially nice on the notification page is that there is a link you can click on to take you right to the c2it transaction.

So far no problems - and no fees either! I think they have done their homework and basically is filling a void that is so desperately needed for the sellers. As far as the personal information, this is no more than my bank requires of me. And I did not have a problem giving it to them. I feel much more comfortable with a bank handling financial transactions for me than a payment service who makes up the rules as they go along. A credit card is for the convenience of the buyer, not the seller; therefore, the buyer should incur the fees.

That's all I have to say on this PP issue - kind of tired of beating a dead horse.

I've had 5 transactions through C2it and no glitches but what I don't like about it is that I'm not provided with the address of the customer and it is just something else to keep track of. Same with Paydirect.

In one of the transactions, the buyer added his address into the notes area. I have talked to c2it about this and they seem to be very receptive to feedback.

Since I am on AOL, I can't use the WBN that AW has, so I forward the End of Auction Notification from Ebay with a template that I just have to fill a few things. The template includes "Please confirm receipt of this email, along with your address and payment method." I would have to say that 98% of the buyers on my auctions comply.

Also, you could add a note in your TOS for c2it customers to please include address in the notes section of the payment.

Right now, it may be an additional email or two, but 1)there are no fees; and 2)transactions are insured by the FDIC.

I don't use c@it because I don't have a citibank card.

Has anyone tried Energyflow? http://www.energyflow.com

There are so many of these comapnies springing up all over and they all look good at first glace. It's nice to hear from people who have actually used the service.

I've used EnergyFlow a number of times!

Works GREAT with very helpful live CS!

It is a good deal: however, the amount of info they require from you (for security purposes) is huge!

I can't figure out how they stay in business! I truly wish them luck!

Bogalucy: Just FYI, you dont need a citibank card to use c2it. Once the three month free trial is over, you pay 1% with a citibank card and 2.2% with any other card. This gives you three months to get a citibank card. Why not get one? There is no annual fee.

I signed up with C2it back in April, and just had my first customer use it today. I already requested the funds be transferred into my checking account. So far, I'm pretty happy with how it went, it was simple.

Yisgood: Since this was my first transaction, was I supposed to get $10 in my account? Because I didn't.... (and also did not know about that promotion before I read your post)

You get the $10 when YOU make a payment. Your customer gets it for making one, though it doesnt show up for about a day. You can also get $5 for referring your customer by going to their site and sending your customer and invitation from the site. When your customer signs up using the link in your invitation, you get $5. Personally, I find that a little tedious, so I don't bother with that.

I received the link via email. I just tried using it but replacing my ID with that of other c2it users and it doesnt work, so I guess you have to get it direct from them. In any case, it's not a link you can put in your auctions. It's a URL specific to you that you have to visit and issue invitations from there. I think exchangepath did something like that. It's just too tedious for me to use and kind of shady to send someone an invitation without their asking. So I dont bother with it. If I can get my customers to use a service that costs me nothing and does the best job of protecting me against fraud and charge backs from any other service, I really don't need them to pay me $5 to do it.

I've been really happy with c2it.

I had a problem with my account and called them on Memorial Day. They fixed the problems in three minutes.

Imagine how long it would have taken with PayPal! :0

yisgood three month free trial

One month.

you pay 1% with a citibank card and 2.2% with any other card

You pay 1% with any card as long as the purchase is over $50.00, they have a minimum $0.50 per transaction (whether the payment is accepted or not).

People should read carefully for themselves.

I just had my first payment via c2it and it went very smoothly. My only complaint is I received no information about the sale, such as buyer's name & address, auction number, etc. Only their e-mail address.

So, it will work fine if I can keep up with who's who and what's what. Not a problem if I have only a few auctions. But, what if I go big time? LOL.

The buyer was thrilled about the $10 back. She got her tapes practically free.

People should read carefully for themselves.

Anyone who signed up before 5/31/01 gets 3 months free. Anyone after that gets 1 month free.

Apparently they just changed the policy 11 days ago, so I don't think it is a huge oversight on anyone's part to have not noted this! Also, they still are giving new customers $10 bucks...

I was told that the reason for the 1% charge for all cards was an inquiry from Mastercard about the fairness of charging some folks more than others. It was a temporary measure while they iron out policy. I appreciate the way they responded. They could have raised fees for everyone. Instead they dropped them even though they will be losing on the non Citicard users.

AntiqueParrot - I ran into the same thing.. I have 2 cash and check cards and NO MATTER HOW I enter the address information it refuses to accept them, so I gave up (not that I need to accept them, was just going to try).

I have double and triple checked against my statements, and online with the bank. Even placing extra spaces between letters, changing Ave to Avenue, adding periods, etc...

Yet, I can use these cards on ANY web site that claims to validate the billing info matches the shipping info. (Perhaps they manually verify instead of automate it there?)

yisgood - "Why not get one?" -- Because too many credit cards CAN hurt your credit rating/worthiness.. even if you don't charge anything to them/etc.. Plus it leaves you that much more open to identity theft/available balances should someone get at your information.

After the mid 1999 to late 2000 dot.com online ordering craze, I am in the process of shutting down as MANY points of reference to myself as possible, and it feels much better to know I'm going back to being suspicious like I used to be.

1) Cancelling "extra" credit cards.. I only have 1 "real" card and 2 "cash and check ones", so I have one each of the 3 major (Disc/Visa/MC).

2) Closing extra bank/brokerage accounts. LUCKILY I never signed up for those "$50 cash back" Gomez like accounts.. but I still have a few too many due to changes at work/home.

3) Shutting down ALL previous email accounts either by discontinuing ISPs or emailing requesting for killing, and created 3 new ones (POP accessible). This time provided FAKE information for all of them. Now have one for SPAM/anonmous board postings, one for PERSONAL and one for EBAY... that's it.

4) Killing off any personal information submitted to ANY web site I don't use (e.g. savings discussion forums, hardware forums, online ordering sites.)

I've done a few more things, but trying to get my "presence" off of online as much as possible, and as my selling on eBay wanes (never was "pro" but now don't go to rummage sales much anymore, and don't pick up stuff cuz I think it will make me $5 profit on ebay... $25+ I still will, but $5 isn't worth my time).

It honestly is more fun to enjoy life offline.... Other than for reference, and the ocassional "garage sale" dump (or purchase) on eBay, I think we are about to have the big internet crash of 2002 on it's way... (Not to be confused with .COM crash---I'm speaking of USERSHIP of the internet to plummet, not the SELLERSHIP)

Ummmm, it seems like this string is missing one of the most important parts of the c2it plan:

By joining, the information about you from your application, credit checks, etc can be shared with all Citibank businesses and you give them permission to supply it to third parties.

Please read the Privacy Policy very carefully.

Does anyone know how long it takes for a deposit to be made to your bank account?

I had someone send me a payment the other day and I immediately transferred it to my Mastercard and it hasn't shown up yet. With all my other accounts (Billpoint, etc) they usually show up the next day.

Anyone know?

Mine showed up on my Visa in 4-5 days. My online credit card statements generally take 2 days to process the payment after the deposit is made. It is a cash payment.

I registered for AW in late Jan, and was told by an AW Customer Support person that the email notification system was not compatible with AOL. I have addressed this issue since then several times on AW boards, and have seen other AOL users with the same issue. I am not LOL.

Thank you for your input; I will make a point of addressing this again with AW.

Hi Nanandme-hope you didn't think I was laughing at you. I was serious about was there something I should know. Am fairly new at the AW thing. My buyers respond to the WBN, so I know they are getting it-but are they getting some jumbled up message or something? So far, haven't had a problem with AOL and AW.
