I just found a listing for a live eBay auction of an Elvis collection. In this auction, there is a Remington shotgun and a gold Beretta handgun. Now, we all know this is against eBay's rules.......

But will they do anything about it?

Nope.

The rules state that firearms are not permitted to be sold on eBay's "core" site. Which I assume live auctions, premier and whatever they feel like adding, are not at the "core" site. I'm waiting for the live auction of nazi memoribilia (sp?) myself.

IIRC, the reason ebay banned firearms is because it's illegal to ship them through the mail. They figured it would be easier to ban them completely than face the ATF folks.

petedavis - you could not be more wrong about Ebays banning guns. USPS is not the only shipper in the world......UPS ships guns n' ammo regularly.

The decision was made some time ago when it was apparent to Ebay that the PR fallout from an improperly used gun purchased legally on their site was not worth the bad press.......and let us not forget that it was also a "PC" move.

After working for a gun manufacturer for a year, I discovered that you can not legally ship to someone who does not have an FFDL (License) no matter how it's shipped. If someone is caught selling a firearm through the mail to an individual, hello federal prison, goodbye the good life.

PS This is a live auction, going to be held in Las Vegas. If anyone here wants to bid $500,000.00 or more, I'm quite sure you wouldn't be having this junque mailed to you!
Seriously, I don't think this counts as an ebay banned auction at this time.

Well I informed ebay about the guns for sale.

Their answer:
