I just wondered, those of you who weigh your items and download your postage, where did you get your scale? Does it have to be a postal scale, or will another do? How about buying versus leasing?
Also, anyone ever had to file a claim with u-pic? I know the P.O. wants to see the package when you put in a claim for breakage and wondered how it works with u-pic.

I haven't yet filed a claim with U-PIC, but I thought I was going to have to a couple of months ago, so I emailed them and asked for a list of requirements in order to file a claim for an item shipped through the USPS. Here is a copy-and-paste from the response I received:
1. 30 Day Wait from ship date for a loss. No wait for damage.
2. UPIC Claim Information Sheet filled out
3. Copy of original invoice
4. Copy of monthly reports including Declared Value
5. Letter or email from your customer stating loss or damage.

Thanks, Mr P.,
Doesn't seem too unreasonable, but I wonder what monthly reports they're talking about.
In their FAQ section, they make it sound like you have to wait 30 days if it is lost OR damaged. And it says you need a signed affadavit from the consignee.
Thanks for the info.

The "monthly report" is the manifest we file once a month with U-PIC showing the date of shipment and declared value of packages shipped.
