I sold a saddle on ebay a few months ago. It took several listings and I was happy to see it go finally. This was several months ago.
Tuesday the postman brings a large box into the office, needs a signature, no big deal happens all the time. I sign and the postman leaves before I really look it over, though we both agreed it looked like the box had had it. Well I open the box and what's in it? The saddle. What the ?!@#.
Well I thought they were trying to return it, I dig around in the box hoping there is some note or something. I find a card and it seems the person I sold it to resold it. This is fine, except I have the saddle not the new buyer. What happen? The box was the same box I sent it out in & I had gotten it from work originally(hence the co.'s address)Either the new shipping label fell off, or they forgot to put a new one on! I figured out who the seller was and sent a message thru ebay. No response yet. So what next-just sit here and wait till someone misses the damn thing??? I want it to GO away and STAY away!!!!

how funny! the good news is, it's not your problem, except for having the thing there until the seller figures it all out.

I think (but I would never do this to anyone) that if you get something in the mail that you didn't order, you have no obligation to return it. You could resell it.

Since the seller could only be contacted through ebay. I'll just have to sit and wait.
I'll make every reasonable attempt to straighten this out, cause I would hope that if I was ever so stupid someone would help me. But if they never claim it-back on ebay it goes.

this is true i have several items listed that i received unsolisted i contacted the sender and told them they could come get them I haven't heard from them in over two years so i am selling
i am not sure of the legalities as to the time to wait but morally i would contact the other person and give them plenty of time to claim it

If you are really tired of it and want to get rid of it quickly, email the seller and tell them if they have not made shipping arrangements for it within five business days you are going to ship it off to Oklahoma.

Then email me and I'll give you my address.
Heck, I'll even pay the shipping.

Seriously, you could probably figure out who the buyer is by looking up the sellers closed auctions. Personally, I wouldn't contact the new buyer though, I would let the seller get this mess straighened out. I applaud your willingness to help out this person, but I would be careful to get some sort of proof of mailing in case this saddle takes another detour.
