Due to a flurry of non-paying bidders, I am hoping someone can give me advice a time line for filing NPB and FVF and sending email notice to late payers. I was just strung along on a payment for over a month and when I looked up the bidder they were NARU. Of course I had missed the deadline by a day or so. Would also like to know how much time other sellers allow for initial contact after the auction before re-listing. Do you offer the item to the back bidder in the event that you have a high bidder who doesn't answer email? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

In desperate need of a system,

Not Naru on eBAy

i suppose everyone does it a little differently. i'm sure you know a lot of sellers don't mess around at all and file a npb if they haven't received payment after 10 days. i usually allow 2 weeks (so 4 more days), unless i've heard from the buyer. if i haven't heard from the buyer in the 10 days, forget it. file and move on. can't hurt to offer it to the underbidder before relisting.

Thanks very much kitty. So if I understand:
You send the bidder the amount owed and allow 14 days for delivery of payment. If you have not received payment or heard from the bidder you file NPB. Do you email the bidder before doing this or not?
Let's say the bidder responds to NPB with a promise to pay? How long do you give the bidder before filing for FVF?
I am being a pest because after 2 years of selling with very few problems I am being deluged. If this is the new reality I want to treat non-paying/non-communicative bidders with the same systematic approach that I take to listing shipping and emailing if this is possible. Right now all of these problem bidders have thrown me off schedule

For me, there are TWO distinct classes of deadbeats:

The NON-RESPONDERS ...
and
The SLOW-PAYERS!

I treat each a little differently:

The Non-responders I file NPB & relist at the earliest possible moment; eg, 7 days after EOA.

The Slow-Payers I usually give 3 WEEKS to come across...if they don't after 3 WEEKS, THEY AIN'T GONNA & then tell them to kiss off.

You know what the ebay deadllines are for you... so just adjust yours accordingly.

naru,

If you have not received payment or heard from the bidder you file NPB. Do you email the bidder before doing this or not?

it depends on their feedback. if it's good, i'd email first. if it's 'iffy' or 0 or low, just file.

Let's say the bidder responds to NPB with a promise to pay? How long do you give the bidder before filing for FVF?

7 days. if they can't manage to get it to me by than, *after* getting the npb notice, feeerget it.

hope your flurry of npbs goes away ... soon!

Thanks to all of you.

Rather than become hysterical about the current mess, I thought I would do something constructive about the situation and you have all helped. I also hope the deadbeat snowstorm clears up soon. I was delighted to hear about the new eBay NPB 3 strikes you're out rule.

3 days after the auction ended I resend my original contact email. After 10 days if file NPB, 10 days after that I leave negative feedback and file for refund FVF. Works for me!

Does anyone try pulling contact info and calling if there is no email response to EOA notice?

if it's a high ticket item, sure, it'd be worth it. if not, i wouldn't. but if i get no response at all to my eoa, i email it once more through the 'email this page to a friend' thingy, just in case there's an email problem.

A NPB can get suspended, but....

Does ebay have a similar thing for reporting NRS? (Non-reponding, non-shipping sellers). I don't think so, but they should.

Also, I think the NPB score should appear on their feedback summary just as their bid retractions do. Same with a NRS score.

Just thinking out loud here.

Don't non-shipping sellers get kicked off? Non-responding sellers will soon be out of business as
they certainly won't get payment if they don't contact the bidder.
If there isn't a procedure for this there should be. Embarrassed to admit that after 2yrs of selling on
eBay I have never won any auctions, so I only know one side of the story. I like the idea of showing
the non-paying score (or non- shipping score) so you don't have to dig through dozens of pages to
find out if a neg was justified or just retaliatory) Someone once sugested being able to search by
feedback type so you coud read the negatives easily.
