I'm thinking about signing up with them...anyone have any dealings with them, and if so, how did it go? Are they a reputable company to deal with, and is it a relatively painless process?

Thanks!

Hi,

I have used Achex quite a few times to receive payments. I have never had a problem with them. The only thing, is don't count on them to email you to let you know when the check cleared. Go into your account and check for yourself. I rarely get an email from them telling me my customer's payment has cleared. Other than that, it's great and I recommend them. Wish more customers would use them!

I give Achex 5 stars. I've recommended it to a few customers who seemed like it would be a good fit. No fees and super fast electronic check transfer.

Let me add that since it is bank account to bank account, sellers don't have to worry about charge backs. For buyers, there is a form you can fill out at your bank if you have been defrauded but this is nowhere near as easy as a charge back and it is a crime to fill this out fraudulently. So though there is some protection against outright fraud, seller has good protection against the false charge back. It definitely makes more sense than going to the effort and expense of sending a money order and is far more secure.

As for the customer's payment "clearing," once it is sent the customer can not cancel it (except by going to the bank and filing the fraud affidavit) so I ship as soon as I get notification.

Thanks everyone! Sounds like something I'll have to sign up for.

One question:
Where do I find them?
Paypal has worked for me so far, but anything without fees and good service is better then fees and weak service.

I just wanted to add something. We offered Achex for quite a while and not that many seemed to want to use it. I think it's a good service from what I've seen though.

We did have a problem with it recently, but it was our fault, not Achex's. They sent an email notification of a payment, but it went into our Spam folder (we filter out most Spam emails this way). Since we don't closely scrutinize the Spam emails (we will from now on), we missed it.

So, this customer actually paid us super-fast, but two weeks later I see his item still in the file cabinet where we store our "smalls" and wonder why we hadn't received payment on the thing yet.

After investigating we found out we had been paid two weeks prior and then sent his thing out (upgraded to Priority) with an apology for the delay in shipping. He just left us great feedback by the way (was not expected in this case to say the least).

So, there may be some pitfalls to be aware of. Good luck with it.

I would not recommend anyone ship as soon as they receive the first notice from Achex. Just because someone initiates a payment and they cannot cancel it, it does not mean that there is money in the account, or that the payment will actually clear. What if the sender entered their account number wrong or something? That is why Achex has a "status" column. So you can see when it's processing, when it's cleared, etc.

I will not ship until I see "payment cleared".
