...rained again! Wow, I was at once sale because they advertised books.Sure enough, there were cartons full...on the wet grass..under dripping trees in a steady drizzle. They did have a tarp but you sort of have to remove it to see the books! They did come down on the price when I said I'd buy more at less per book. I don't know paperback values but I can probably take them all to the used bookstore for credit.

The same sale advertised Depression glass, and there it still was, about a half hour after opening [made me wonder if the dealers had already been there and passed it up]. I thought the pieces were very nice, a ruby-red and some of the paler colors, too. They were neatly placed in bags and labeled with book values someone had looked up [no ebay references though].

Well, I thought they were pretty, but I wasn't feeling like paying $15-$30 for pieces at a yard sale when I could pay those prices at an antique shop and maybe feel more confident that they were the real thing [maybe not]. But OTOH, I didn't feel like the old lady should have to sell her nice things for just a few dollars. I suggested that they take them to the local shop, though I don't know if they buy from the public.

Pickings were slim today, but a few things: I got a nice Goebel penguin, a few depression saucers (that according to eBay I can barely give away), a Gould bird print and a nice blue and white figure of a victorian man and lady, carriage, driver and horses. The figure has felt covering the bottom and it looks like it has been there for some time. I am dying to take it off and see if there is a makers mark (I can tell it is solid underneath) - but how would I do that without damaging everyting?

This Morning I STRUCK IT RICH!!!

I got 30 or 40 BOXES FULL of good ebay stuff- toys, cameras movie still and video, cast iron, 22 boxes of books, electronics, Boy Scout stuff, musical instruments, sheet music, 6 Fisher Price houses and a BOXFUL of LP and furniture, paper stuff by the boxfull, glass, china, silver, pottery- a BONANZA of stuff- and it was ALL FREE!!

Mostly I just peeked in the top of the box to see if it was eBay sort of stuff or kitchen junk etc. I started sorting boxes but it was obvious I wasnt gonna have time to get it all done, so I started sorting by the glance - yard sale or ebay. I can pull stuff out of yard sale boxes as I unload them on the tables at the next yard sale.

So far I've got 50-60 BOXES of yard sale/flea mkt stuff, dozens of larger items, wooden cases of vintage soda bottles, fair to good, virtually everything but clothes, again FREE!!!

This morning I cleaned my garage.

Definitely can't top dawaford's post, but did OK today:

3 original Wallace Nutting prints, signed, $1.00 (Canadian, eh!...about $0.67US) each.

Happy dance up here in the North

2 art deco chrome ashtrays with penguin's...$0.10 each.

Set of Johnson Bros. Autumns Delight...about 40 pcs...$15.00Cdn.

Lot of vintage sterling cufflinks...$0.25 for the lot.

.....and tons of old printed tablecloths in nice condition.

Not a bad day as it did start out very cloudy this morning, and the sales were quite spotty around the area.

This is my best weekend yet for sales. I got cabbage patch clothes, the whole back of my van full of Vintage Fisher Price toys, Care Bears stuff, books, kid's videos and clothes, all for under 25 dollars. Now I have to find somewhere to store it all until I can get to it!

We got a ton of old cookbooks for $10.00; many of them are good sellers on eBay. Got an old Tootsietoy VW Beetle (about as old as I am) for 10 cents. Last Saturday we got a box lot of matchcovers, most from the 40's, 50's and 60's, some older; there were over 2100 of them in the box; many of them are selling on eBay for $10-30 each so I think we made a good investment.

Today I outfitted my daughter and my sister for the next year; dresses, pants, sweaters, jackets, everything, for less than $75.00 TOGETHER.
Name brands too, Gap, Old Navy, The Limited, Tommy Hilfinger(sp?), Catalina, well.... and K-Mart/WalMart.
My sister is a 3x/4x, I rarely find more than a piece or two for her, but today, her box overfloweth!

I scored a couple hundred pieces of sheet music for a couple bucks. Also a slide series on the Vatican City artworks -- and the viewer to go with 'em. Best find though was a gift from my dad who is remodeling his computer room this weekend -- five book cases and a cool giant computer desk (if it'll all fit in the van for the ride home Monday).

IMLDS2 - Yes some of the early hard bound editions will sell for $50 and $75 if they have a clean cover, and are not ex library.
I was sick the last couple days and just sick to see all the sale signs on the way home from the grocery store because I felt to bad to stand in the heat. The last two weekends have just been great.

*S* I have NO idea what I ended up this past week with to sell. The reason? I'm on a 2 weeks vacation. While it's hard to see NOTHING on my ebay page right now, I've also had a week on no access either. Instead, no worries, no cares. just 2 weeks of sun, surf, and sales. Yep, Yard sales, flea market sales, etc. *LOL* 2000 miles of traveling so far. ( I'm at a friends place in NC for now)Another 800 or so miles before we geet home later this week. Right now though. I MAY have to cut back. The truck has a camper shell on it. One tote of sea shells ( yes, we did spend time at the beach too *S*)and a few odds and ends we brought with. Well, except for a small portion of area ( hubby says the cooler HAS to go in the back) the truck is almost FULL of things to sell when we get home. So much for a vacation *L* I'll be typing and listing my heart out. Okay, not ALL is for sale, but a very big portion is. what's sad though. When we get home. We have to UNLOAD the back *groan*
What a fun vacation. playing and shopping the whole way across the country.

On Saturday I was up at 4:30 to get ready to go to a field trip with my Girl Scouts. The bus was leaving at 6:00. I woke up my favorite scout to discover a horrible sunburn. Not good for traveling. Now, what should I do? Hmmmm.... up early.... all dressed.... kids asleep ....

Yep, you guessed it... GARAGE SALES! All by myself! What a liberating day! No one whining, just little ole me strutting around without a care in the world!

AND - to top it off - about 6 boxes of books for 10 cents each INCLUDING 6 teacher's edition Dick and Jane books.

Ahhh .... life is good!
