We found these at an army surplus store for a costume party we went to ~ my husband went as Teddy Roosevelt and we sewed these onto his shoulders. They were regular $50 but we bought them for way cheaper, as the lady wanted to get rid of them.

My question is, what wording do I use on eBay so the right people will find my auction to bid? I tried looking up army stripes but there are all different kinds out there. Any help would be appreciated!

Hi rachelsmom,

you need to put brackets around the UBB code - like this (without the *'s):

[*url] before the url

then [*/url] after the url

"Stripes" are for enlisted personel. They "work" for a living.

(as an old Army NCO, I couldn't resist)

The first picture looks like a W-3 (Warrent Officer 3)

The second picture, I assume, is the back side?

Oops sorry, yes that is the back side. I edited my post so it tells which is which now. Microbes, I did a search on eBay under w-3 stripes, and also warrent officer 3 and nothing. =( Any other words anyone can think of?

It might have helped if I had spelled it right

Try this: Chief Warrant Officer, CW3

They are "Chief" Warrant Officers once they get past W1 (We called 'em Wobbly Ones )

Oh, and they ain't "stripes". Stripes are for Private's, Corporal's, and Sergeant's. You know, the ones that "work for a living".

Here's one that's similar.

And speaking as a retired Chief Warrant Officer (ELC W-3,) we start out as E-1 and work our way to Chief AND THEN to Warrant.

It's not the same as Academy kids who graduate from college and think they know-it-all.

Humph!

Hello rachelsmom!

You have CW3 (Chief Warrant Officer) shoulder boards for the Army Dress Blue Uniform, Slip On Pattern. They are not from WWII and are of current manufacture.

$40.00 is excessive as you can obtain these new at an approx. price of $10.00 - $15.00. However, auctions can sometimes bring real crazy prices.

Each Branch of the Army has their own Branch Color. For example, a base color of blue would be Infantry.

The boards that you have are Medical.

You should also consider placing them on Militaria Collectibles Auction Haus.

I'll take a grizzly old CW3 for a platoon leader any day over a Green wet behind the ears Butter Bar 2nd Loowie.

Not to say the WOs I served with didn't spend LOTS of time in the office (or Command Tent) drinking coffee.

In the Army, they had to be Warrants first, before they where Chiefs.

But what do I know, I was just a Buck Sergeant.
