OK, I didn't take the time to read all the text and bid retractions before. Kinda funny.

Hello zymo,

Discussion regarding this auction is allowed as long as the seller or bidder is not discussed.

Thank you,

zymo,

Thanks for the post - you brightened my whole morning!

The fact that this auction is from a power seller will carry more weight than if a similar thing was done by a smaller seller.

I've bookmarked it, mostly to see how long it takes eBay to yank it. So far it's been up about 21 hours.

Peace,
Sadie

I do not think ebay will yank it. There is no reason they could give to the seller. I am salutiing this seller .. He acuratly states why ebay will eventually fail. When high power sellers like this (and numerous others) have pent up feelings, they would not hesitate to go elsewhere as soon as the opportunity arises.

Thanks for bringing this auction to my attention - it made me laugh so hard until I realized that it was true - and then I cried.

I sent the guy an e-mail thanking him for telling him it like it is because I doubt that the average E-Bayer buyer has any clue about what sellers go through.

Now, if only we could figure why someone would want to spend $500 for an E-Pain jacket, even if it is only a limited edition.

That was well-written Bob. I really felt empathy, and I'm just a mom-and-pop seller.
I know Glenda still reads here sometimes, so Good Luck to you both.

Edited to add:
Take a look at the bidders (some of EBAYs big hitters) & the retractions.

It's good for a laugh and for releasing some pent up feelings, but if anyone thinks ebay gives a darn, think again. A numebr of sellers posted similar auctions on Yahoo to show Yahoo's failures. Instead of addressing the failures, Yahoo kept shutting down the auctions and unregistering the posters. Where is Yahoo now compared to a year ago?
It's too bad because with just a little effort, they could have been real competition to ebay.

The funny part about this auction is there is an ebay store.

Now if you felt that strongly about their policies/fees/etc would you buy a store?

Otherwise, it's a great auction. I had to laugh at several of the comments. LOL!

I don't begrudge him the store, he's doing what he has to, in order to survive. If his bidders are being directed elsewhere, and he's forbidden links, wha else can he do? He has inventory to move and a family to support.

He's making a statement, and I agree with all he said. I don't either think it wrong of him to have a store for the reasons given above.

The retractions were really funny too

Finally, an auction worth "Watching", just to see how long it takes eBay to go through the "rules and regs" and find a reason to end it.

What a hoot and the bid retractions are even funnier.

Sadly, what he says is true.

Great editorial. I wonder if the auction will run the full 10 days.

I don't begrudge him a store either - it just struck me as odd why he would be so much against ebay, yet pay for a store.

I don't know if he has a family that he supports with auctions or not. It was just an observation.

Sorry it offended at least two of you. LOL!

I know most of the bidders and retractors and feel this is really funny how most of them came via the Q&A board. I really should go over there and find out the whys and wherefors!

I love the reasons for retractions too!

edited to say - well that didn't take long at all. It's the topic of the hour over at ebay.
Can't say I agree with their choices, but hey it's a free country.

eBay is a monopoly, if you want to sell in on line auctions you have to sell on eBay and they know it.

Airguy,

No kidding - I didn't know that - wow!! LOL!

Yes I know they are. What does that have to do with what I said? LOL!

Have a nice day folks.

LOL all you want but it has everything to do with your post, like I said "eBay is a monopoly, if you want to sell in on line auctions you have to sell on eBay and they know it."

If your going to sell with on line auctions and have build up a business and a following doing so and ebay will no longer let you have links to web sites then it has to be a ebay store. I don't believe opening that by opening a store is an endorsement on his, or any sellers part, that they support the policies/fees/etc. Probably far from it.............

I see where a few of our AW members bid on the jacket. In support, I'm, sure.

What a great auction, my hat's off to Bob, who has the guts to tell it like it is, right in their face!

Gosh Airguy, taking this a little personal aren't you?

I agree ebay is the only place to be, but am I not allowed to see things differently?

Sorry I offended you, really I am. I didn't think my silly little opinion would be so disastrous to you. It's nice to know that people value it so much that they have to argue with me over it. Once again, LOL!

I know half the people (or maybe more) who bid in his support. I didn't because I don't do things like that.

But I wish him luck whatever happens. ebay is letting it run I see. Maybe til the end.

Surprising that it's still up as ebaY has such a history of banning even mild criticism from its site.

No sense in closing it now...

Of course, the real irony would be if the high bidder is really a deadbeat, and eBay has to refund all those fees...
