....I just can NOT believe they are up to $50 for my New Garfield watch.
Can anyone tell me why this is going so high?

Looks like you just have a bidding war between 2 bidders. Happens.

I wouldn't be concerned. I've never seen the watch locally and that may be the case with the others. Just sit back and enjoy. I'm sure it's no evil plot! LOL!

Take a look at the bidding history - the names will give you a clue as to why they want it so bad!

All you need is 2 determined bidders especially ones who have been outbid by each other before.

I've had items sell for $100+ that should have sold for $10, and there were only 2 people bidding.

Enjoy it it doesn't happen very often.

A few months ago I saw those watches on clearance for $5.00. Now I am kicking myself for not buying them to sell on ebay!

Good luck with your auction!

Four more bids and you'll get the "Hot Item" icon (the lit match). One of my items is almost there also. I expect tonight or tomorrow mine will be "hot."

Good luck and be sure and run down to the store and buy all the other Garfield watches you can find! They apparently want more...

LOL!
One powerseller must have seen this thread and has listed SEVERAL Garfield watches...
So mine probably won't get anymore bids..
Guess I shoulda kept my mouth shut...I just have NEVER has this happen...

Won't do him/her any good. They've merely glutted the market & will probably get nowhere near what your watch brought in.

Well...there goes my bubble...sigh
Had one person CANCEL their $80 bid ; reason they gave was they saw the power seller had listed them CHEAP...and was going to bid on his....
sigh...now I'm depressed...why couldn't they wait til my auction was over?

Since when is the excuse "I saw it cheaper in another auction" a legit reason to retract a bid?

Send a note to [email protected] with the info on the bid retraction. They may NARU the person for that one.

wait for them to reply with an "answer" that has nothing to do with what you said....

They probably won't take action, but it didn't hurt to do it.

You know, for the life of me I don't understand why sellers do something like that. It is so cutthroat and unethical. There is such a thing in business as courtesy.

I always check before listing a really unique or unusual item. If there is already one listed and it has high bids, I back off and wait until their auction ends.

If four or five people where bidding on that item, then three or four of them will be bidding on my item.

I know, someone will say that's business, but I treat my fellow sellers that way I would want to be treated. I wonder how they would feel if the shoe was on the other foot?

Sorry this happened IMLDS2...

Got to ask:

What does this mean?

"NON CREDIT CARD PAYPAL ONLY!"

It means I accept Paypal..but only if you have credit on file and don't have to use a credit card.
Only credit cards are charged by PP.

Interesting that the person who retracted hasn't bid on any other watches. But, they sure put in the Powerseller plug in their retraction. Geez, what a smart newbie bidder to know so much about powersellers.

Good luck on the bidding in the next 2 days. Your watch looks very nice, especially compared to some of the others up for sale.

I bet that the person who retracted was that powerseller with a new id or another id using the bid retraction as a free advertisement for his auctions. Someone sees it and thinks, gee, I can find this other seller and save big $$$.

I was thinking the same thing tiggressoflove.

I'm sure that you hit the nail on the head, especially since a lot of newbies are not seasoned enough to know about scrolling down and reading about bid retractions.

IMLDS2, so sorry to see someone burst your bubble!....What a fun ride you were havin'(although the current high bid is nothin' to sneeze at!)...read the bid retraction carefully, unless there is more than one powerseller who listed similiar watches, it's a direct ad for another seller. Coincidence or planted by that seller?...Either way a damm shame that folks can't figure out how to play the game so that everyone can benifit.

Now this is really STRANGE...the one who retracted their bid has now bid again on my watch...
Can anyone figure that one out???

Now it's at $79!!

This *SCREAMS* of Auction Interference by one of your "competetors".

$1,000,000 says that high bid will be retracted MOMENTS before the auction ends, dropping the price back to what... $15?

Others will see the high price and bid more on the "competetors" auctions.

I would pull as much info about the 0 feedback bidders on your current auction, and on the sellers of the same items, and report it (and any patterns you see) to safeharbor and see what they do (probably nothing BUT if they get caught, they might do something..but then again they're power sellerrs, but you never know)

Good luck

I must be missing something here. I did a search on Garfield Musical Watch, and on Garfield Watch.....did not find any that were like yours. To top it off, only found 11 listed. BTW I liked yours the best. Too bad I dont collect Garfield! Good Luck!
