Hey Guys! Need your help again - I'm sure this topic has been posted before, but I didn't seem to read it and maybe my items are a little different (?). Anyway, I have this approx. 90# item - it is actually one of those things on a ship that the captain or whoever uses to stop the ship, etc. It looks like it's on a pedestal (would be screwed into the floor) - picture the thing on Titantic (movie), using the lever on this thing, they try to stop the boat. I hope I'm making sense...it says like - stop, foward, etc. on it...Anyway, if I sell it, tell me how I would go about with the shipping part. Will I send it FOB from my town to that town - am I the one responsible for setting up the shipping - what if they know a cheaper carrier, etc. than what I do? Also, have another weird-shaped heavy item - it's a "chandalier" - is actually an old wagon-wheel - how would I handle that one? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. I have never shipped large heavy items like this and don't even know where to start with the shipping...Thanks in advance!

AuctionWatch has an advertisement on some of their boards now for ABF. Looks like they're trying to get into the small shipment market. You might try looking for one of their banners and click on it for some info.
The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.

Hi capefeartrading. We are in the process of shipping 2 huge woodworking saws (250# each)and got a very fast and easy to figure quote from ABF freight online. I think I found the link here on the auctionwatch site.
Here is the link to the quote page below:
They will pick it up or give you the address where you can drop it off near your location. Also will give you the option of delivering to the bidders residence or to a drop off location where they can pick it up.
It is amazingly more reasonable than I would have thought. In my auction, I gave the bidders the option of picking up or giving them a quote using ABF.
It worked out fine. And for both of the saws to be dropped off in CT it will cost the bidder 150 total. We have the ability to crate at my husband's shop so you will have to factor that into the cost somewhere.
Hope this information helps. But just for your reference, you will not be able to accept paypal for any freight shipped item unless it is dropped off at the confirmed address. Just finished a discussion with paypaldamon over that issue.
I think I am better off with a personal check anyway. Good Luck!

I don't know if all of these will be able to help you--I've just seen them recommended here on AW.
You should probably put in your TOS that if your bidder has a shipper other than these three, they are completely responsible for the item once it leaves your possession.
