I want to sell my digital photos but instead of mailing the hardcopy to the buyer, I want to finish the transaction via email by sending it electronically. Is this against the Ebay rules? Do I have to send things via human courier? Basically I want to do business like corbis.com .. digitally.
To my knowledge, there is nothing on eBay that prevents you from completing your transaction by sending your product electronically. People do it all the time with short essays & articles they write up on their area of expertise. They typically send the article as a word or PDF document.
However, if you are considering doing this with digital photographs, may I suggest you take into consideration the size factor of your files. Even under compression, your files could easily be several megabytes. This could be very difficult for a person with internet access through a modem to download. Not to mention that for best quality, you should not compress your files to begin with. (which would make the files even larger!) You did not mention what kind of digital photography you are doing, but if you are interested in keeping the quality of your photographs high you should consider using a different method to send the photographs to your customers. I would recommend that you invest in a CD-RW drive, burn your files to a CD, and send them that way to your customers. Hope this helps!
