I know this is off topic..but if anyone has any pointers or where can I go to learn about this...
I have a smallish how to book I wrote...and feel it is worth going to market. This would be the first book I have ever written and don't plan on making this a career..my original purpose was to sell it on Ebay and have and will continue to and it is doing well..but I know there is little to nothing out there in print like this...and think it could do well??
If I wanted to sell it either thru mail order, audio, or print in book stores..what would I do first?

Hi, run a search for "publish on demand". You should get a number of hits, I don't know anything about who is good or even if it is recommended but I found out about this when I considered a book myself.

I've been working with these folks for
years. Minimums used to be 64 pages
and print runs of 1,000 books, but now
they will do print runs as low as
250.

"...sell it on Ebay and have and will continue to and it is doing well..."
If you are selling it on ebay it sounds like you already have the book in print and are selling it. To sell it by mail order all you have to do is advertise it in the appropriate venues (ooh that word!). I have written, self-publish and sell several books this way.

I'd be happy to share my experiences with you about how I got published. Not self-publish or POD, but how I got an established publisher to publish my books and pay me royalties. Please email me if you'd like. [email protected].

it feels so strange writing about this in aw. this is starting to feel like the publishing list i'm on
for anyone interested in self-publishing NON-fiction, get yourself a copy of dan poynter's 'the self-publishing manual.' there are a couple of other good ones, but dan poynter's is really the self-publisher's bible.
p.o.d. can be a good way to go, providing you're publishing the type of book it's suited for. some are, some aren't. the technology for pod has advanced A LOT in the past few years, so the quality can be quite good. a few years ago i was taken through a demo for lightning press at b.e.a. (the big annual publishing trade show), and i was very impressed! i'm sure there are others who are as good. but if you go this route, be sure to talk with someone who's used the company. in fact, talk with several people who've used the company.
