I'm trying Auction Tamer (about 10 days now) but having problem with their auction poster feature. It utilizes IE to list auctions but I always have problem using IE to post multiple auctions: usually the first auction listed ok but for the second auction, the preview page cannot load, I've to wait for about 5 minutes then the second auction will go thru. Same thing happen to the following auctions. (I use Netscape to list and no problem occurs)

I've tried Shooting Star (for about 2 days). Even though this software is full of useful features, but it is highly unstable for me (my pc is running Win2k). That's why after testing it for 2 days and I uninstalled it.

I don't like web-based auction management (like AW) as many of them charge fees close to what eBay charges me (I found one offers free service but I believe they'll start to charge fee sooner or later). With PC based software, I only need to pay one time fee and use it for a long time.

Any suggestions or experiences with PC-based auction management software will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!!!

Auction Amigo by Invenna. Great company - great product. I also prefer pc-based to the web-based, and this was my top choice.

Don't ask me why but there seems to be a limit of 7,000 characters in the description field when posting auctions on eBay with IE or with AuctionTamer for that matter.

I've posted auctions with AuctionTamer with 20,000 characters, but you have to wait 5 minutes before posting the next one. But if your description is under 7,000 characters then you can post as many as you like.

I haven't figured out why it only happens with IE.

eBay's Seller assistant fetches the email address of the high bidder even if the reserve is not met. Funny Huh!

I'm on the Auction Amigo bandwagon too. Good product, one time fee.

But I can't promote it because the AW Gods won't let me....

For launching listings, there is no scheduling feature in AuctionAmigo Pro.

Well, I've tried a few. But needing to put all my eggs in one basket, for ease of use, I came back to AW. It is worth the nickel plus 1%. I just wish we could sub-categorize our pictures! And copy completed auctions without destroying the original!

Ihave been using auctionsubmit for listing and myauctionmate for tracking. myauctionmate tracks, reports, emails, sends feedback, etc. So far I really like it. One time fee (low price, too)and free updates! I use auction submit for listing because It lets me preview while I creating the ad. It is a free download.

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to remind you that it's fine to talk about competitors as long as the posts don't contain promotional wording.

Thanks,
Sara

I'm confused...aren't all of these web-based? If the software needs to go to eBay for ANY reason, doesn't that make it reliant on the web...and therefore, eBay? And, if so, don't they need to constantly adapt to eBay's cute little changes?

And, if so, doesn't that mean they will ALL eventually charge more...no matter what they say now?

toke: the answer is: yes

All auction software is dependent upon eBay's changes, no matter what you are using.

The only way to get around this is to list all of your items directly on the ebay website.

Most providers of auction software provide support to either work around or fix bugs that are produced by the ever changing web site known as eBay.

toke, there is a different between web-based and PC-based. For web-based, you store all your auction data on the website like AW. As for PC-based, you can work on your auctions OFFLINE and all the auction data is in your PC. Then only time you need to online is when you want to list auctions.

Yes, eBay changes small little things VERY OFTEN and you need to update your software very often too. So far I know AuctionTamer and MyAuctionMate offer free update (you just need to pay the one time fee). Some software offer free minor update but will charge you for major update.

Fred,

Definitely has to be Timbercreek Software's Auction Trakker Seller's Edition.

With ATSE you can create and post auctions, track them, and it has robust post-auction management. Feedback included. It also has a very flexible reporting tool.

The software is PC based (besides connecting to retrieve auction info). One time price, free updates for new builds when Ebay makes their famous "changes". New versions come out a couple of times per year, these are upgrades that cost $.

I bought it 3 days into my free 30 day trial, that's how much I loved it.

Just my 39 cents worth!

Aha...thanks. So that means eBud is pc-based. I like it a lot, and have used it since beta. I won't need to decide whether or not to pay for it for another year, thank heaven...

I was under the delusion that pc-based software would be like an auction management spreadsheet, that you would enter the data into manually.

Sorry...

Does no one on this auctionwatch board use auctionwatch? Am I the only one who finds auctionwatch acceptable and cheap?

No, I don't use it, BECAUSE I don't find it acceptable or cheap.

I use Auction Amigo ($69.95 ONE TIME FEE) with unlimited support and upgrades.

nuff said.

I paid a one-time fee of $79.95 for AuctionTrakker for my post-auction management, and I use Auctiva for listing my auctions (they also now charge a flat rate yearly fee) and couldn't be happier. They are 2 great programs, with excellent customer support.

The difference between them and AuctionWatch? No separate listing fees, no image hosting fees, and they don't get a cut of my sales!

Call it a hunch, but I have a feeling the AW powers that be are going to lock this thread soon.....

I use Mister Lister for my auction ads (I build my own templates with FrontPage) and Auction Trakker for the back end. It works for me!

Folks,

While discussion of competitive services is OK, it can be difficult to achieve without sounding promotional.

Given that there are a number of posts in this thread that come very close to crossing that line, and several alternatives have been provided for the originator, I am locking this thread.
