I have a collection of snuff bottles from my aunt's estate. I know they were all bought before 1950 by her husband who died in 1964. She glued some of the tops on, so as not to lose them, I guess. So I don't know what she used or when they were glued, could have been anytime between 1965 and 1995.

I assume the older glues might be easier to remove? Anybody know what solvent I could try? Most are glass to glass. Thanks for any help!

Start with alcohol, and work your way up to harder solvents. As long as it is glass on glass, you shouldn't have to worry about the solvents eating the bottle or top away. I would be more concerned about the glue staining the glass.

There are 2 products on the market that may help.

The first is D-solv-it that can be purchased in Walmart. It is a citrus based formula which may do the trick.

The second is called Goo gone. Again, available in Walmart.

Good luck!
