NOT CURRENT - OLD THREAD !!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a June 2001 thread which was pulled out of the archives. I can't seem to edit the subject line but hope this message helps.

NOT CURRENT -- OLD THREAD

**************************************

From the Announcement Board

***Free Listing Day***
In celebration of the American collector, eBay is hosting Collectibles Month throughout the month of July. To kick-off this month-long event, eBay will hold a Free Listing Day on Thursday, June 28, 2001.

Free Listing Day will start at 00:00:01 PDT on Thursday, June 28, 2001 and end at 23:59:59 PDT on Thursday, June 28, 2001.

During Free Listing Day, all insertion fees will be credited for new listings on the U.S. site (www.ebay.com), eBay Motors and eBay Premier.

Listing fees for items listed in eBay Live Auctions, Real Estate or any of eBay's International sites will NOT be credited.

During Free Listing Day, the insertion fee will be charged and then immediately credited to your eBay account. All other fees (home page featured, featured plus, highlight, bold, gift icon, gallery, gallery featured, etc.) will still be charged. eBay Premier listings will not be immediately credited, but will be credited sometime after the close of the promotion.

During Free Listing Day, you may notice a slowdown in search indexing.

Free Listing Day and Collectibles Month are your chances to discover a wide variety of items to satisfy the collector in all of us. We encourage you to share your collectibles with others and get in on the action!

Thank you!

Regards,
eBay

Guess the falling auction count is starting to hurt and they want us all back.

Have fun.

I don't know about this...usually I don't list on free listing day. IF by some chance you can manage to get things listed, then when the auctions end, eBay can't seem to take the strain of all the traffic and crashes. It looks like 10 day auctions would end up closing on a Sunday; isn't that the day of the week eBay is alreay prone to crashing on? I'm tempted to list, just to save the fees, but I don't know!

I've *always* listed many items (hundreds) on ebay's free listing days and have done well on each one. I will be sure to take advantage of the free listing day. Sales are slow as it is - every little bit helps!

This will be my second Free Listing Day - the first one being in December. I listed lots of items and did well.

Thank you folks at eBay - I really appreciate this! [smile/]

And once again, good news about eBay is greeted by two camps: People who would gripe about a free meal, and those who are going to take advantage of a free deal.

My butt will be firmly in front of this computer taking advantage of the freeby.

I've already got 81 auctions uploaded to Mister Lister ready to launch tomorrow. Although my trading card auctions have been slow (ok, practically dead) on Ebay - I'm going to list everything I"ve got - after all, it won't cost anything if they don't sell, right? My half.com sales are actually keeping up with my Ebay ones (now THAT's scary).

I only wish I had more stuff ready to list! Although with the storefront, my fees are going to dropp about $40-$50/month because I"m going to shift my trading cards over there... we'll see what happens with that...

Good luck everyone and let's pray we don't crash the system in our listing frenzy!

I think it pretty crappy they only give us 12 hour notice.
I listed mine for the week already today.

With what I sell it takes a lot of time for me to make a listing, pictures, descriptions take time.
No way can I pop 100 listings on by tomorrow.

BOOOOO HOOOOOO to YOU eBay.

Keep your freakin free list day!

It's about time ebay got a clue! We need the free listing day much more now during the summer slump than we do right after Christmas when sales are brisk.

Packer - for all the auctions you listed today - end them early (like now).... and then write to ebay and request credit for all those auctions you ended early (they WILL credit you)...

Then relist them tomorrow... and you can even list them for 10 days...

Packer, I agree. I also listed today! And Exec Girl, I ain't about to go thru the crap of ending, requesting credit, and relisting.

Hey ebay, Throw the dog a bone.

Bow wow.

So do you think they left the loop hole that if you relist one of these that did not sell you get your fees refunded.

That would be so great. Basically a month or better of free listings.

Just a thought.

Jim

P.S. Yes, I feel for you that have so many different items and takes a while to list them. I am one of those people that sell about 20 different itmes all the time. Using a software package, I can not name here it, has taken me about 20 minutes to set up 100 auctions to list so far. Now if they only go in

I just said in a post the other day that they were making all these changes and they need to throw us a bone like a free listing day.

well if that worked so lets see if this does.

Since they will be making so much more money now that they have killed the links taking people away from ebay, I think they should lower their fees say .05 and stop charging for extra for 10 day auctions, and not just on free listing day.

Don't hold your breath!!!

So, does it star on Wednesday 12 am till Thursday 12am?

Please help. I don't want to miss it again.

WEll seems nice, however 12 hours notice is not enough for me. So it really doesn't help me at all unless I stay awake all night and scan and write descriptions.

No, I like to sleep. So they can tell the shareholders and advertise great benefits, but 12 hours notice is rather a joke.

According to what I just saw on another message board which shall be nameless, eBay said that 10 day auctions are not included. I take that as meaning the extra fee will still be charged but the base fee would be refunded.

Their announcement board states:

During Free Listing Day, all insertion fees will be credited for new listings on the U.S. site (www.ebay.com), eBay Motors and eBay Premier.

So doesn't that sound like 10-day listings would be free?

Nope, 10 day is a Additional Listing Option acording to eBay, not a listing fee.

Jim

That research I did on the eBay site. I also seen on yet another chat board about the same subject there is an unwritten limit of 1000 auctions. Thta I can not prove or disprove.

When FLD starts, Do one for 10 days and then go check your account. Easiest way to find out.

Wow only 12 hours guess we need to be ready all the time. But its nice of ebay to give us the free day for the second time ever. You might say it's Christmas in July on ebay lol. But I will have a ton of my 500+ Movie and TV stars from the 50 and 60. User Parkpro1 on ebay. Thanks ebay for the help in the summer slump. Craig Parkpro1

eBay time is 3 hours BEFORE eastern time. For example, 4 pm eastern time is 1 pm eBay time. Gives those of us in the east a running start

GEEZ - and I actually have 50 items I could work on listing tomorrow - sorry folks I will not be visiting the boards tomorrow - and I will be heading into work early

Off to bed - I gotta get up early!
