I just got notification of a payment made from Billpoint. I haven't signed up Billpoint. I offer Paypal and honor all major credit cards through my merchant account.

Anyway I went to the auction that my buyer sent payment for and there it was in that auction. Its in all my listings.

I can't believe eBay just took it upon their self to put it in all my auctions, but they did.

Has this happened to anyone else?]

ericka23,

Many have been saying, that for some reason, billpoint is a default setting on the listing form.

Must be another one of those ebay glitches

Billpoint is not a default setting on the listing form. You must either check it on the listing form or, perhaps, your auction tools site did that for you! I have heard of AW doing that very thing.

its a bug in relisting items and sometimes in listing items fresh, that Billpoint is inserting logos - there is a message in the Billpoint forum on Ebay covering this.

ericka23, this is from the AuctionBytes NewsFlash this morning http://www.auctionbytes.com/Email_Newsletter/newsflash/newsflash.html

June 29, 2001 - PayPal Catches eBay Bug
According to an email sent by PayPal to their Preferred customers, there is a "bug" in the eBay re-listing process that automatically inserts a Billpoint logo into the auctions of all sellers who have ever opened a Billpoint account. Apparently this logo is inserted into the auction listing even if the seller has no intention of accepting Billpoint payments.

To become a PayPal Preferred user, one must agree to advertise only PayPal in their listings. By doing so, the Preferred seller receives 1.5% cash back on Debit Card Purchases. The eBay "bug" apparently has caused many Preferred sellers to be inadvertently disqualified from receiving the cash back.

PayPal is instituting a week long grace period during which they will not disqualify their Preferred members from receiving the 1.5% cash back. Paypal recommends that users review their listings for any unwanted Billpoint logos and remove them if their auctions have not yet received bids. PayPal also recommends that users contact eBay's customer support at (408) 558-7400 (and select "2" from the automated menu) or submit online inquiries at http://pages.ebay.com/help/basics/select-support.html .

I got bit by that BP bug myself, but I had two BINs yesterday use it.... so I guess I'll leave it in this batch and see what happens.

Heck, anything to help sales. Even if I do hate BP, their higher fees, the lack of chargeback protection, the lack of control over deposits into my account.... wait a minute, maybe I'd best go delete them from my listings!
