With 2+ million new listing on FLD - we (the sellers) need to have the bidders.

Many sellers on this board have mentioned that they would not have known if it were not for the "friends" here at AW. I suspect not many bidders know that we worked our fingers to the bone to get things listed. I suspect if your catagory sales were down before FLD, that with many more items up it may only be worse.

Now we need to get the bidders to ebay! I have 68 people that have joined my AW mailing list and I emailed them. I told them about the free listing day and suggested that they go to ebay and my seller list link, of course, on or before July 5th and again on July 8th. I told them that with all the new listing they are sure to find some great bargains in every catagory.

I also have added a line to my "your item has been sent" email about the 2+ million items that were listed and scheduled to close on the 5th and the 8th.

I will add a line to my "end of auction" email stating the same thing.

I think we need to tell the bidders. It will only help us.

I would like to hear other suggestions on what we sellers can do to get the bidders to our stuff. What are you doing?

I am not doing anything to bring in bidders. Too tired from all that listing.

I did notice that Ebay ran several TV ads tonight. I rarely see that here so I imagine they are trying to get the bidders to come now that there are lots of goods listed.
It is to their benefit too. Hope the ads work.

30 items up, 3 with bids, one hanging at 1.00, one is a loooooooong way away from reserve...

At least the other 27 only cost me a dime each for the 10 day deal.

My thought is that it can not hurt a seller to give the bidders on their mailing list and current winners of recent auctions the news of all the items they just worked so hard at listing.

Out of the 68 people I emailed - two of them emailed me back that they appreciate the "heads up".

I think that is a great idea and wished I would have thought about that sooner. I listed 400 auctions and about 1/3 have been bid on... not too bad. Thanks goodness they will run for 2 weekends. Plus a lot of people will be off part or all of this week. Thanks RichieRich!

I don't feel we should have to do this part...even though it is great that some do- hats off to ya. Ebay sends me emails to encourage me to buy! Well I am already here and a full fledge participator...Hows about some MEDIA advertising to help us out ..Magazine Advertisements, Maybe some major Newspaper Want-Ads layouts. Someone in my small town had a cyber Yard Sale with a WWW. address to it...Ebay should be getting out to the media for us. We all work our fingers off, time, pictures, layouts, etc. and everyone is right there to grab the profits before we see our share...Auction Watch, Billpoint, Ebay, Paypal, Uncle Sam. I didn't do well at all with the last week of free listings. Its the lowest amount of bids I have EVER had at the Bay. So I am a bit frustrated...

It didn't occur to me to do that..thanks for the idea.

My "buyer's" side isn't particularly moved by knowing that more items are available this week. I am not a browsing shopper. Rather, when I need something, I check eBay first. Recent buys have been children's software, clothing for me, and swimsuits for my daughter. The selection just needs to be there when I have the need for something. Ebay is outstanding in this regard all the time, not just after FLD.

The main benefit for me was because of no listing fees, I could afford to list items for lower prices, and also to list some desirable items for higher opening bids than I normally want to pay for. I then have the option to re-list and drop the price if I perceive there was a lot of traffic but maybe people didn't want to pay the opening bid.

I agree that it is not my job to bring the bidders to ebay. But it doesn't hurt for my to tell them or remind them to go check.

I do not think most buyers check ebay all the time. They check only when they are looking for something. If they get an email telling them that 2+ million items are scheduled to close between July 5th and July 8th they might just go see if there is anything they like in the catagories they shop in. Giving them a link to your listing should put them in your items first before they look at other sellers stuff. If you get one bid out of it, I think it would be worth it.

keziak - I probably could have filled your need, depending on the sizes you need.

I encourage you to tell your current winners and the people on your mailing list to check out ebay on the 4th and 8th of July.

I would appreciate someone telling me of the bargains to be had.

It's good to promote some excitement and get people in to browse even when they don't have a need for any specific item. It's a form of entertainment plus many people come across items that interest them but didn't come there looking for it.

YOu know a seller once put me on a mailing list without my approval. I gave him a piece of my mind then I gave him a negative feedback. I hate being put on a mailing list@@@@Q@#E()!#$&*!#@$(&!#&E(

traceyg - I have not put any of these people on the mailing list. They all signed up on their own. I did NOT email every person that has ever won my auctions - only those that signed up for my AW mailing list and the winner of auctions that have recently paid for their item and I am senting them the notice that their item has been mailed.

I would not email - SPAM - those that I currently do not have reason to email or did not sign up for my mailing list.

I too am watching items that with the holiday and all hope stay at a cheap price so I can snipe it up!
