The download took over 2 hours for me.
I did get it downloaded and installed.
If you're using a browser other than Internet Explorer, there are problems (have seen reports of Netscape crashing and Opera freezing).
Not a good sign.

I'm not very computer savvy...and I live in a tiny tiny town where our modem is 56...but it doesn't go that fast. Phone lines won't handle it. NO DSL or cable available and not planned for over 2 more years.
SOOO...it took me an hour to find a faster way than the FOUR HOURS it said from GEGY.
Went to the home page and THAT is only going to take 45 minutes..sheesh...
If I weren't a BETA TESTER I wouldn't have bothered to download it.

The reason why netscapers may be having problems is due to missing tags in the source code. If that is the case, that is sloppy programming.
Not a good sign for a site that isn't even open yet.

I'm a beta tester too, so I downloaded it & it took over 2 hours,(56k) I don't know anything about computers, have no idea what java is & why I had to have it or what to do with it or what it's going to do for me, but they said I needed it & now I have it.
How come I never needed it before?

Users really need to start protesting the use of Java, since in most cases it is not really necessary for use in online auctions.
Its a horrendous security risk since it allows a foreign machine to literally hijack your system.
This of course makes it an ideal advertizing tool, used for pumping all kinds of garbage at users.

I have to download a javascript thingy to use gegy?
Well, I will just cross gegy off my list.
Hell, I won't even do that for the new ebay sell your item form, I use their old forms!!
There is absolutely no need for such crap on a simple auction site.

The java script is only to use their LIVE auction format - real time auctions.
The regular auctions (not yet in beta testing) will not require any java, obviously.

snakebait,
JAVA isn't a security risk. That's one of the main reasons it's used for downloadable dynamic apps. It's one of the main selling points promoted by SUN. There's very little malicious you can do to a remote computer programming in JAVA.
On the Gegy Kids site the games are FLASH applications which appear to be JAVA apps that are downloaded to your PC in the background.
