Ok, I have been lucky I guess and it was bound to happen sooner or later but I just got notified that two of my auctions that had bids (by the same person) were retracted. Ok, so I go to look for the reason and it says
"Administrative Cancellation"...thats it, nothing more.....this bidder has only one feedback and he did not get NARU'd or anything like that so what the heck would cause an administrative cancellation?? And even though two were retracted his bid history only shows one.....I have never run across an administrative cancellation....who cancelled the bids ?? Him or Ebay????I know this sounds like a dumb question but I am confused?

Hi Minx,
It could be that his feedback profile has yet to catch up with his NARU status? I've had a few Admin cancellations, but the bidder always ended up NARU.

Hi Reddeer
thanks for the info. I went and checked this bidders bid history and he has THREE pages of bids in June/July. Not always the high bidder but he has been busy. He has only one feedback. So administrative means EBAY cancelled it and not him?? I put him on my bid block list (first time I have used it)..... ......Oh well....Its not a monumental problem...just a minor irritation....Have a great day!

Yes, that means eBay cancelled the bid.
Perhaps another seller has filed a complaint with eBay?

"Administrative Cancellation" is the phrase Ebay uses when it cancels a bid. However, I think Ebay only cancels a bidder's bids when they NARU him. If he hasn't been NARUed yet, maybe he retracted the bid himself and entered "Administrative Cancellation" as the reason to make it look like Ebay did it and not him.

Hmmmmmm......Now THATS a thought....because I am watching very closely and he has NOT been NARU'd.....and still has three pages of active bids. Maybe I had better contact ebay and see if they did in fact cancel them. Thanks for that insight.

If EBAY cancels the bid, EBAY sends the seller a message stating it was cancelled, even for admin reasons. Did you get an actual message from ebay, or were you just looking at the reason from the item page?

Ok, will do. I just emailed ebay to see if they did in fact cancel these and if so, why?? And if they did not , they might be very interested in knowing that they were blamed for it.....either way, I feel better.....

yumacoot..here is a copy of one of the notices sent.....

Dear eBay Community Member,

You can view the retraction/cancellation and the reason provided by selecting the (bid

As a result of this retraction/cancellation, there is a possibility that the high bid amount and the
current high bidder have changed. You can always view the current status of any item by
going to the individual item page. (Be sure to refresh or reload the page to view the most

I dunno....that does not seem like ebay cancelled them, but when I go to the bid histories on each...it states that it was an
"administrative cancellation" ...guess we will see what ebay has to say......

I think something is fishy in Denmark. I just had a bid cancelled by EBAY (two I think) about two weeks ago....thought I had saved the msg, but didn't. Seems like the message specifically stated IN THE MSG that it was an administrative cancellation..... I think your bidder is placing the blame on Ebay, but in fact cancelled the bids himself!

I had a strange one this weekend ...Bid was conceled thursday administration cancelation was the reson I did check and bidder was NARU and I did not receive a notice from ebay.(unless I delated it along with a pile of spam )
Item closed last nite and it was the same bidder same user id so he somehow got his
NARU status changed came back and bid again I checked his feedback 13 with the last two being negs for some fairly expensive stuff he didn't pay for.
I emailed him this morning for shipping info and have not heard back fom him..OH WELL!!!
In retrospect I should have done a bidder block when he was NARU but I thought I was safe.

Minx47-that email you rec'd from Ebay is identical to the one I got about a bid retraction not long ago. The bidder had retracted the bid-not Ebay. One of those-"oh-so sorry-thought it was something else-giggle-giggle." Yeah, thanks, Airhead.

Just look at the bozo's feedback. If they retracted, It will have recent retractions listed.

Just got this in from ebay......
Hello XXXXXXX,
Thank you for writing to eBay. I am sorry to hear about this situation,
and understand your frustration and concern over the issue.
The person that previously bid on your item is now a suspended user that
is why the bid retraction said Administrative Cancellation.
Sorry for any inconvenience this has cause you.
Regards,
Gina S.

They were very quick to reply and that clears up the mystery.....his name does not have NARU after it...don't know if that happens with a suspension???? but he is toast.....he bid on 63 auctions in a very short period , so I can use my imagination......Doesn't make him a bad person....just probably emptied his wallet before he knew what hit him......a newbie bidder....... ..Thanks everyone for the moral support.......

Microbes...thats what I thought and its the first thing I checked.....it shows only one bid retraction and he did TWO from me alone....and the retraction has a one in all three columns so I am not even sure that the one is mine......
