I got myself in a little crunch at cyberrebate.com so I am trying to enter new venues on ebay to offset my wonderful debt to this now defunct company. Yes, its going to be a wonderful summer.

anyway, I am not asking you to part with your deepest secrets but I would like to get some hints. Are thirft store a good place to find books? Today I picked up a 1959 Holiday cookbook by better homes and gardens on a hunch hoping people may buy it.

What other suggestions, like waht are people interested in. I would really like your help. thanks a million.

Thrifstores can be good place to get books, so can yardsales and swapmeets. some booksellers will say fiction doesn't sell, others will tell you it does sell. Some will say don't fiddle with paperbacks, some ONLY sell paperbacks. So, my advice to you, do some research on Ebay as to what is doing well, and go from there. I have had success in hardback, paperback, and, believe it or not, BETTER success in fiction than in non fiction!

I've found thrift shops to be one of the worst places to buy books for resale on an auction.
The best place is a library sale. Cheap prices and great books. When I first heard the words "Library Book sale" I wrote it off as a bunch of discarded old library books. Wrong. The vast majority are quality donated books from regular people and book stores look for a tax write off. Often times the sales offer bags of books for a $1 or two.

As for finding the book titles that actually sell on eBay try looking at the "completed" section of several of eBay's book sections. In a way it's like reading a Racing Forum at the track. You get the track record, feel of the betting crowd, etc. by scaning those completed auctions .....

saweemosman, there were a couple of great threads about bookselling here on this board. The same person who started those threads is writing a multi-part series about selling books for profit here:
