ok, i think i need some feedback on this one. about half the time i list '19** vintage style' items, the other half they really are from the 19**s. if they're vintage style, i always say so in the title, and list both in the same category, since that's where i search for this style, as do others. i've sold quite a number of them now, and everyone's been thrilled because they're impossible to find from that decade, and difficult enough to find the style. i've got quite a few repeat buyers, and a number who want me to let them know as soon as i've got a new batch up.

so, someone bought 3 from me. she received them and is 'VERY disappointed' because while she knew they weren't from that decade, she somehow thought they'd be 'more vintage.' her first email was quite curt, which annoyed me.

i bit my tongue and replied back that her email had surprised me. as she could see by my feedback, many people had bought these style items from me and had been very pleased - and quite a number of repeat buyers. since i'd provided very good photos (including a close-up), accurate and detailed descriptions, and the opportunity for people to email and ask questions, i couldn't see what else i could possibly have done. and that if i make an error, i have no problem making it good. in fact this happened with a 4th pair she'd won - i noticed a flaw while i was packing it up, emailed her, offered her a free additional item, but she decided she just wanted the 3 and that was fine by me - my bad. but i feel this is a case of it being her bad - buyer's remorse, didn't read all the measurements and they don't fit, or whatever. the part about her knowing they weren't vintage but somehow expecting them to be more vintage is the part that makes no sense at all to me!

oh yeah, forgot to mention she's also a seller, registered under this id since mid-2000. so she should know it's common practice to list this way. hell, even newbies have figured this out with no problem.

Sorry, really doesn't matter how many other people are happy w/their purchases, this one isn't & only you can call how you want to handle.

I do allow returns for buyer's remorse & on those rare occasions when I've had an inquiry, I use the following:

"I'm sorry to hear you are disappointed with your purchase. Please feel free to return the item to me by (I use a date here to place an outside limit on return options), with my seller markings attached and I will gladly refund your purchase price.

If I make a mistake (mislabeling, it arrives broken, goes missing, etc.), then I either refund or replace.

For buyer's remorse, they must return & I pay only purchase price. So far, only two people have returned for buyer's remorse. I got a positive from both for the way it was handled.

She's disappointed for whatever the reason. Probably just used "more vintage" as an excuse. How you want to handle it up to you.
