I woke up this morning to find a brand new NEG.
Another badge of honor, I guess, for filing NPB's and posting Neg's on DeadBeats.

*sigh*

Pi**ed off a bidder with 93 positives and I ruined her stellar record.
Of course, the fact that she never paid is irrelevant, right?

ennyhoo...
I pulled up vrane to check my records and was wondering how you all fare...

I have received 5 negs or .47% (3 unique & retaliatory)
I have left 46 negs or 2.8% (I neg all non-pays)

Is that about "on par" for doing my community duty?

(Yes, I know the FB system is poor and many of you don't leave negs at all anymore.)

Anyone who does post negs care to share your record?

post coffee edit for easier reading!

I think I've given 28 and I know I've received two back. Plus two retaliatory neutrals if that counts.

We also quit doing negs I think the FVF is a stronger tool to get dadbeats NRU.

I've got about 50 negs. About half are blatently retalitory. Many of the rest are differences of opinion about things like shipping charges etc. I've earned a few. All and all my neg rate is about 1%. Which is pretty high. Frankly I believe my willingness to neg and follow-up with repeated billing was part of it. Haven't had a neg in the last 400 or so filings (since I gave of neging for non-payment.)

I have stopped neging unless it's a really surly buyer because - what's the point? Buyers are nearly immune to their significance. Ebay pays heed only to the aggrate rating. Unless the buyer is on an absolute joy-ride, bidders should have not problem maintaining a positive rating.

As a seller, - like I have time to check ratings and process repeals of bids! I just go with the flow.

I do however file for FVC and sometime the amounts are rather pitiful. No matter, it is this activity that gets ebay's attention and jerks NARU'd.

My system that I developed notes buyer ratings and I will neg buyers with 0 or less ratings. Just doing my part to get them off the list ASAP.
I can't believe I said That?!!

Every time I get a retaliatory, I tell myself it isn't worth posting the neg.
Then I go and post away...
I'm so anal ~
I can't stand the auction hanging out on my pending comments!
What a moronic reason to risk retaliation!!

(am I still anal if I have raised awareness of my idiosyncrises?)

I have left 147 negs, all for non payment and have received 11 retaliatory negs in response.
(We have 12 negs but I deservered one of them...)

zoomin,
I think I misunderstood. I thought they wanted to know if you (the seller) left retalitory negs. Which I do.

I have been known to fire a cannon back when someone hurled a stone (and not just at ebay! )

Since I leave feedback at time of payment, the only negs I have received are from people saying they paid and I never shipped (yeah right, I pick them to screw after all these years! )

I did get a neg yesterday less than 24 hours after auction end for "no contact" .

This was from a bidder with a minus one that just got it yesterday for no payment. I thought he negged me instead of the other seller that left feedback but he negged him too.

So today you can bet he has a minus 2

I have 3282 feedbacks, 8 neutrals (7 from narued bidders) and 4 negs, one that I deserved and one that should have been a positive.

whew, Barrelracer!
I thought you meant you received a neg for every neg you left!
You scared the @#$%*& out of me for a second!
Thank you for clarifying that!

I can't seem to get rid of the "obligatory" feeling I have to post a neg.
Yes, I religiously file NPB's & FVF's.
I'm actually proud of the fact that over half on the bidders I've negged became NARU.
I think the neg I post gives others the guts to "do the right thing".
Even if they don't post a neg on the DeadBeat, it motivates other seller's to file for FVF with a lessened fear of retaliation.
(knowing that someone has already filed puts the bidder on step closer to NARU)
or that's my wishful thinking, at least!

**could be the Dudley Dooright thing kicking in again**
another edit! still not enough coffee!

I think that it is great that you leave negs for non payments. I really do.

I used to do that a few years back but all it got me was grief when the bidder then had friends bid on my items and leave negs, before ebay changed the policy to transaction feedback only.

I do like it that they now use the FVF to also get rid of the deadbeats. i file very few of them, after the NPB alert I usually receive payment.

Most of my deadbeats come from bidders with 0 feedbacks who seem to sign up to bid on my item and then disappear again.

I have left 14 negative (4.5%) NPB feedbacks, and have 1 (.4%)retalitory feedback. I do also file NPB alerts and FVF.

I do leave negs because I know that I check a seller's feedback before bidding on an item. Feedback really doesn't do much good for me as a seller, though.

Since I refuse to play a game in which I have no chance of winning, my retaliatory feedback count is and always will be zero.

Zoomin,

I always leave feedback, and don't hesitate to leave negatives, and file for FVF credits.

I've left 45 negs or 3.008% of 1496 total
I've received 4 negs or 0.443% (3 retaliatory and 1 a misunderstanding)

Thankfully, most of the folks I've negged are now NARU, but the category I sell in is rife with childlike imbeciles

Good Choice of Words!
Most of my items are "trendy" or "fashion oriented" and all are high quality name brands.
I guess I can interpret that many of my bidders "image conscious".
The retaliations are from the shallow bidders ~
If I make them look bad, they get vindictive!

Fortunately, most of my bidders buy for the quality, not the name brand, and 99% pay within five days.

I've left 5 negs for non-payment. Would have left more but they got NARU'D before I got the chance. I haven't received any retaliatory negs but I did receive my first neg yesterday. I decided not to refund the buyer's money after I looked at some of the feedback she left and her bidding history, plus I knew there was nothing wrong with the item. She simply is not familiar with the product. Her initial e-mail bothered me much more than the neg. It was almost anti-climatic.

I work very hard to describe my items accurately. I pack carefully and keep buyers informed every step of the way. This time I just wasn't in the mood to do any more and I paid the price.

I have a feedback rating of nearly 800 with 2 negatives. Both retaliation--one from a seller who sent me a torn dress; the other retaliation for filing a NPB (before I gave her a negative)

I'm happy to say that both are NARU'd now.

I ALWAYS file NPBs and FVFs. To do otherwise would adversely affect the bottom line. But I NEVER neg deadbeats since it can only negatively impact the bottom line. The risk/reward ratio for negging deadbeats is skewed way too far against the seller to make it a logical option, but FVFs add to the bottom line EVERY time with minimal risk of a neg in return.

I have a system that has left me an ebay neg 'virgin'.

I fill out NPB as soon as possible. Usually by the time I neg (waiting about three months), either they are off ebay (NAUR) or have quit bidding and don't pay any attention to it.

So, I have 1200 postives, over 1800 transactions.

I have 4 neutrals (1 was retalitory because the seller didn't own something he was selling), another I think had buyers remorse and said item never showed trying to get his money back. 2 were changed from postive when the bidders went NARU.

I did have a neg a few weeks ago, but I proved to ebay the bidder was underage and it was removed.

Let's see ... Vrane says I've left 32 negs out of 6,100 (or so) total.

I have 3 negatives myself, one of which was retaliatory from an uncooperative seller, one from a newbie buyer who made a typo in my e-mail address when sending me a PayPal payment and blamed me for not "claiming" it (LOL!), and one out of the blue from a girl who disagreed with my description of an item but didn't bother to e-mail me so we could resolve it. (I have a "satisfaction guaranteed" policy clearly stated, but apparently she didn't read my auction very well, which is probably why the item was different than she expected.)

That makes my retaliatory ratio about 3%, if I'm doing the math right.

I don't generally leave negatives for non-payment, but I will leave a negative in extreme situations ... such as an unpaid bounced check or whatever.

I do always file NPB / FVF, though, for all non-payers.

I've only had one NPB (out of about 400 transactions), and she was NARU before I had a chance to Neg.
