The mark of a true eBay seller is their garage. What does your look like?

If I had a garage it would never be that neat! Wow, you are organized.
I have stuff here and there.... and there.
:0)
Eventually I think I will have to go back to using a storage unit, but summer months are too lean to spend the money on something I can live without a bit longer.

Could you come straighten up my storage shed? DH cannot find his tackle box for the ebay stuff.

Maybe I sold it? Hmmmmmmm. LOL!

The sad thing is; mine is full of crap and none of THAT stuff is ebay stuff. Just so long as there is room for MY car and the kayaks I'm cool. The husband parks his vehicles outside the garage which is fine with me! I'm fortunate to have a large office (20' by 25') but it looks like a hurricane hit up here too.

You buy a house that is much larger than the last house and it is STILL full of stuff! Amazing how that works...

A true ebay seller? Candibates, obviously you are not, it is supposed to be a big jumbled pile from the floor to the ceiling!!

I wish I had a garage...

This could be a good new topic...organizational/storage tips...I have a 2 bedroom condo and have a huge closet in my spare bedroom, but it's still not enough and I have clothes (what I sell) all over the floor...it is getting to be an issue as to where to put my items listed as opposed to where to put my to be listed items!!

What a coincidence! I just came in from the garage, have been cleaning and reorgnizing it for over 3 hours. Ikky, sweaty, dusty!Inside the house I have one room (w/computer setup) that is for listed items only. Then they are not supposed to leave the room until sold! Two other rooms are unlisted items; mild disaster and horrific disaster! Everything is sorted and boxed as soon as purchased but with the diffuculty finding boxes all the same size (impossible) the stacks look messy and even threatening. However this keeps dust to a minimum and prevents abrasion and spills, etc. I have boxes labeled;
"cookbooks",
"kids",
"science",
"textbooks",
and so on. Once in awhile I neeeeeeed a box to send multiple purchases, or to cut up to mail a coffee table size book. So I've been known to empty a box onto the floor (carefully) and 'steal' the box. Gotta do what I gotta do.

We are available for hire!

We've recently moved, I just got our garage in order also, which is why I wanted to show it off a little. It took 9 4' x 7' shelves to house all of our goods, although I think I will put up two more shelves, as 9 just isnt enough.

Bring on the free listing days!

That is just beautiful.

No garage, but lost all my packing supplies and 2 boxes of books in a recent flood.

But, on the bright side, it's empty.

I'll have to do pics when I get a chance, but we have never parked a car in our garage, not from day one.

There's the giant recycling mess: cans, bottles, cardboard, scrap paper, etc. That eats up a bit less than a quarter of the space.

I got pushy and muscled my way into the mess and carved out about a quarter of the space for some workbenches so I can do the stinky part of jewelry making - gluing.

The rest of the garage is taken up with the most strange auction item. DH went to the local police dept auction and bought their used 911 console for a whopping $20. This thing is huge...it's set up in an L-shaped configuration that eats up 20 ft by 22 ft. I think it's supposed to hold a dozen computers/monitors/whoknowswhatelses. The IDEA was that our kids could use it as a movie prop...two years later and there's been no filming.

The one thing I really do like about it is that it makes anything strange that I come home with look very small in comparison!

I like your Rhino Shelves. I got mine at Sams Club, I have 3 sets but mine are used for more garage things than eBay items. My stock is in my basemnet.

candibates1 Congratulations on a Wonderful Job!
You are hired! How much do you charge?

I have all my items in a spare room. The shelves fill all 4 walls and are loaded with items. They are neat as I can get them... but something's just don't stack so well...so it does not look anywhere as nice as yours does. I wish I had bought deeper shelving! I like how you used the containers too!! Great idea!!

I close the door..as I am not proud of it's look! I am thinking of getting some containers! ~ Thanks candibates1!

snowyegret I am soo sorry to hear about your flood and your loses! I hope you had ins.! I wish you the best!!!

Wow! You may just be a little too neat for some of us 'ebay' people. We have a three car garage, but two of the bays have my husband's boats in them. I'm lucky I am able to park my car in the other.

Thanks everyone, but I didnt post the pics expecting to get compliments--I thought it would be fun to see each other's work areas.

Jim, I love Rhino Shelves. After 9 sets, I can set them up in no time flat. I got ours at Sams too.

(copied from another thread)

We started storing our eBay stuff in a spare bedroom, we already had an office at the house and soon it grew from the spare bedroom to the guest bedroom and guest bath, the hall, the living room the garage and stuff was being stacked in the master bedroom, bathroom and closet. Also the travel trailer and my cargo/toybox trailer was full.

One day my wife said "you know that my sister is coming next week and is staying a week with us, with her 3 kids, where are they going to stay? We can't even put them in the trailer let alone the house!!"

So we had to lease a warehouse, this was the best move we ever made!! We were able to get organized and it is awesome to know were everything is. Our shelves are a little over 8' to the top shelf on the tallest sets. I bought out a store that was going out of business and got all their shelving, older that what you would find in say K-Mart but basically the same stuff(gondola shelving they call it). I also scrounged a bunch of shelving when a auto parts company changed their shelving in there warehouse, all free they are a bit narrow but heavy duty. The warehouse is about 70 x 24 and it has a 720 sqft mezzanine over the offices so combined we have 2400 sqft. The mezzanine is use for packing supplies, boxes and pellets mostly, stuff we need but don't need to get to everyday we only have to stock the shipping room every few days. The offices are used to stock the stuff that sells the quickest, also shipping & receiving, and a place to meet with sales reps. I am still trying to find a deal on some pallet shelving.

We still have the office at the house. 3 networked computers in the spare bedroom that was the first "stockroom" when we started this crazy ride. I hate having it at the house I would rather have it so when I am at home I don't have to think about any of it. We sell under 3 ebay names and soon we may be adding a few more.

I am almost done with turning my horse barn into a warehouse as well, 1350 sqft it will house the offices so I can reclaim the house, also there is room to put a office trailer on slab next to it should we have to. The barn has room for 8-45x8x11 cargo containers to line up behind the barn connected to a 12 foot wide "hallway" that will run the length of the barn, so I'll have room for 5022 sqft at the house when it is all done and i can give up the warehouse. Sounds like a lot of room, anyone want to take bets on how long it takes us to fill it up? When it is time to pack everything in the cargo containers and move it out.

what I have found is you actually need about 10% more shelf space open on the shelf than you need for the product your stacking on them. that way when you reorder or have more of the same items you can put them with the rest, if the shelves are too crammed with stuff your always trying to rearrange and you loose a lot of time.

FYI K-Mart has been redoing some of their stores, at least in Southern California, and they have been throwing away the old shelving, you may have to do some dumpster diving after hours but the shelves will hold a ton of stuff and a ton of weight.
