I use WebTV. I have been buying and selling on eBay since 1998. I have been using PayPal for about a year. Yesterday, I tried to send payment and kept getting in a loop. So, I called PayPal. Guess what? They said it was a WebTV problem and they were "working on it."

So if any of you sellers get a message from one of us Webbies that we can't pay through PayPal - they are telling the truth.

Sigh.

Webtv will blame Paypal. Go figure.

The problem with WebTV is that they are not computers. Much of the code that is in use today is unreadable by a webtv box. Personaly, I wouldn't use webtv, for the price of the unit, you can get a real (but used, like say a 200 mhz) computer, and be rid of "compatablity" problems.

Having said that, I lay the blame on people that keep trying to "improve" the internet. A lot of the "code" in use today is unneeded for simple pages. No need for anything but basic HTML on 99% of the web pages out there, but so many sites want to add "bells and whistles" to pages that could be kept simple.

Well, I have been able to do just about anything that I need to with WebTV. Launch auctions with pictures, use shopping sites, e-mail, etc. I use a computer all day at work, and it's rather nice to just sit on the couch with the keyboard on my lap and surf around.

But - WebTV's tech staff is usually evasive and difficult to pry an answer from. I posted a message on the WebTV user's board concerning the PayPal problem, and (a day later) got an e-mail back that they were unable to post my message because the title was not clear and to the point. The title stated WebTV Can't Access PayPal. Seems clear to me!

Thanks for your input.

"unable" = "unwilling"

Like you, I use webtv for everything, in preference to my $2000 computer.

I sent a payment two days ago using my Webtv and Paypal without a problem, transferred money last night and received payments today.

Perhaps it is your webtv unit? I have a plus, maybe you have the older classic?

Have you emailed Webtv support? Good luck.

litlux: No, I have a plus unit. When I called PayPal, they told me there was a problem with WebTV. I guess you were just lucky! Was it really two days ago? This just happened to me Tuesday evening. If you tried today, perhaps you will have the same problem. At least, we both have access to a computer! I haven't e-mailed WebTV; I have not found them to be very helpful in the past and they are not willing to admit any glitches.

I'm happy to see someone enjoying WebTV like I do - isn't it nice to sit back on the couch and have a 29" monitor?
