Read in another thread that Honesty Counters were causing sellers listing pages to open verrrryy slowly. Is that fact or rumor?.... and how would I know, in advance, until the end of the page where the counters are located, that I might be about to experience a slow download? And why would Ruby Lane's counters be any different?

I finally quit using them because they got to the point where they were down more often than they were up. And they were by FAR the last thing to load on my page, seemingly taking forever.

Figured if I'm having trouble loading w/a fairly fast machine & connection, Lord only knows what people on slow connections & older machines are experiencing.

Why lose a potential customer over it?

Can't speak to RubyLane since I've just given up counters in general, except on my website.

Slow=True

Not all the time, but enough to be annoying.

If Honesty's servers are overloaded, or their network connection is overloaded, it will take longer for their server to do the counting and send back the count image = slow.

Our servers and connection aren't overloaded (we upgrade anytime server utilization regularly exceeds 25%) = fast.

I posted this in another thread but as a buyer I have found Honesty images to be very slow almost all of the time.I'm sure that people using them are missing out on bids.As a seller I love it when my competition loads their pages down with power seller logos,counters,pretty backgrounds etc.and then use Honesty to host their photos.The background loads first,then the power seller logo and any other useless colors,counters and giffs the seller has put in the page,then finally the image starts to load.I almost never wait around that long.

Thanks for the Heads Up everyone. All these little bits of info are a BIG help.

I quit using Honesty *anything* last year.

I DO use rubylane hidden counters, and can assure you that they load lightning fast, and don't "muck" up the page.

Thanks Jim, some of us appreciate them.

I've also noticed that 'My eBay' is downloading veeeeerrrrrryyyyyy slllllooooowwwwww since the redesign. Now I work mostly from my 30 day list which loads much quicker. Has anyone else had the same problem?

jrodgers,

Yes. It's horrible. Emerging nations have emerged in less time than it took for my over 400 auctions up during FLD to load, even trying to lower the count per page.
