I'm curious as to what you thought of the
Paypal email sent out this morning? The letter encourages Paypal users to take action against Ebay for inserting Billpoint
logos into relisted auctions. They encouraged Ebayers to close their Billpoint accounts and even provided a link for this to be more easily accomplished.

I, for one, am very disappointed with Paypal and their attempts to undermine the competition. They have the nerve to try to enlist the support of their members after repeatedly increasing their fees! They even state in their email that their fees are lower than Billpoint for most items. Not by my calculations! I sell mostly under $15 items and Billpoint is definitely the winner as far as fees. As I've done some research, I've also found several companies providing merchant accounts to sellers that have lower fees than both of them. My only regret is that I ever supported or recommended Paypal in the first place. Any thoughts?

It was a marketing opportunity for Paypal...

Billpoint did the same thing a couple of months ago when PayPal began sending out those WBNs (winning bid notifications) without our prior knowledge or permission.

Turn about's fair play, I imagine. *sigh*

It's a dog-eat-dog world! LOL

hahaha

I didnt receive that email from them but I feel its all to funny.

They recomend all users close there billpoint account so that they can continue to receive free advertiseing on all paypal users listing exculsively.

Bill Point is a service of ebay and should be promoted on ebay.

Paypal is getting a free advertizeing ride on the coat tails list fees paid by ebay sellers.

if any thing Ebay sellers who use paypal banners in there listing should be asking palpal to foot at the least 50% of there listing fee back to them for useing paypal banners.

even better Ebay could make it a requirement for paypal to pay 50% of all listing fees of seller who agree to use paypal banners.

it would indeed benifit ebay its self as seller only paying .15 and .25 cent to list could and would list and sell twice as much or be able to offer lower starting bids to incressing buying.

edited to ad in all fairness this might help paypal incress its users as well

Hi,

Thank you for your comments.

The main concern is for those that are PayPal Preferred,as these members earn cashback if they do not list another payment service in their listings (this program can reduce the cost to the end user).

We do have a grace period while this problem is being resolved, but we also want to make sure that users are not impacted in a negative manner over this issue.

that doesn't exactly inspire loyalty, does it.

since paypal has deemed i don't meet the requirements and must pay the increased fees, i took their logo out of my auctions. i'll probably start putting in bidpay and one or two of the other cc options.

I didn't like the spam about BP either. The timing was awful, as it was on the heels of another fee increase of our favorite "always free" service.

Since I don't use a pic service, counters, or listing software (though this may change), there are no logos in my auctions. I pay a fee to eBay to sell my stuff - not anyone else's.

I offer PP, but it's just in text along with my payment options - and last at that. Why would anyone advertise for this company?

Kind of like a cat fight........

Has any one tried to relist or edit with the instant paypal purchase logo?
You have to edit it completely out as ebay says it has syntax java script errors!!!!! and that they do not allow it, major pain to edit and then you have to go back and reinsert it.

Wish they would kiss and make up and realize we are not dummys and can see through all this!

Two 5 years olds pointing at each other screaming..."Thats not fair!!"

The PayPal email was childish and filled with cheap shots directed towards eBay.

It would have been more effective to send an email touting all of the wonderful reasons to use PayPal rather than being so negative about Billpoint.
