I dont believe you can track your insured item you ship all you can do is if they are lost missing for 30 day is have them traced if USPS fails to find where the item is they pay the insurance. http://www.Dman-N-Company.com

Unless regs have changed, shipping and delivery tracking (only at those points) is still a feature of Delivery Confirmation...Express Mail has continuous tracking similar to UPS and FedEx...
Insurance (over 50.00 value IIRC) will get you a signature at the other end by the customer or representitive that the package was received in good order...I don't believe any tracking obtains...
I usually use DC and pay for the 50.00 value insurance except on inexpensive items which I self-insure...

Capotasto is correct. The blue insurance form will not track the item at www.usps.com
Atari: Accepting paypal just means you accepted the money, not that you shipped it. How could that possibly mean that the item was shipped.
I use UPS and insurance and tracking are included. But if you want to track an item with the usps then you need the green form with the bar code. I think the new 'pink' form will track as well...Signature delivery. But don't quote me on that.
The official paypal policy says you must have proof of shipment. There has never been a concrete answer from paypaldamon as to what constitutes sufficient proof of shipment, other than "must be trackable online". As you will see in the other thread, this is an ongoing debate.
If you use Delivery Confirmation and get it scanned at send time by a person at the post office, you should be OK.
I have been told by post office people that the blue (Insured $50+), red (registered), and the green (certified) labels were changed to include barcodes because all of those items were going to be tracked like DC. I do not think that has been implemented at this time. (And may never be?!)
