I've got a bidder with a 170 feedback that hasn't answered my 3 emails and it has been nearly a week from the auction close... is this pretty normal...??? how long should i wait for a reply??? the email address ends in an .edu and i read here that that could be a student and they said in here ones with that address are bad about being deadbeats..

Some bidders just send payment and never answer emails. When I get one of these I email again, refusing to ship item until I have received the address verification through an email reply.

Some are on vacation right now or just too busy to check their email, they seem to think this is okay. I let them know when they do reply that it is not okay.

The most maddening ones are those with enough feedback to know what the protocol is. They are probably not a deadbeat, just not around to check and answer email.

Send this auction to a friend on ebay, or the payment reminder feature now available in my ebay sold items.

If you still don't hear from them, file NPB.

I too, have had some bidders that never answer e-mail, just send payment and expect you to be able to figure everything out. The .edu ending is associated with schools & colleges. It could be anything from a student, principal, custodian, president, to kitchen worker. My edu buyers have been great, but that doesn't mean there aren't some that are deadbeats.

If you receive a payment, send a note confirming the address, stating that item will not be sent until address confirmation is recieved. (Keep a copy of that one!) If no payment is sent, file a NPB, those always bring my bidders out of the woodwork, along with their excuses.

I have a high percentage of customers who just send payment, no email. Unfortunately, I recently had a small rash of people claim they never got my original email. I now put, at the head of my "winner's" email, a plea to please reply. Most people do reply, though in some cases it's to say "got your email" and still no address, though I do ask for that in the body of my email.

I don't know why it's so hard, but most people do pay, so I just wait on it.

Most of my payment problems in the past couple of weeks have been PayPal snafus. Now THAT is a headache, when they think they paid and it never got into my PP account or whatever. sigh
