Just received an email from a fella in UK...... offered 350 pounds for an item I have up for auction for $750.00 dollars, providing I pay 'carriage' and insurance.

#1, anyone know of a site to convert dollars/pounds pounds/dollars? I don't even know if he's offering me a good deal!!!!!!!

#2, is USPS my best option for shipping? It is books, weighing 65lb. I know I can send it

a. M-Bag for $58.50, but I do belive you cannot get insurance for M-Bag. (?)

b. economy post for $118.25, ins $9, return rec't $1.50.

c. Global Exp $218.00

d. Air Parcel $212.00

Ok, ok, I know, first things first. But I'm leaping ahead to "wonder if I should split it into two boxes?" (I try to double-box items going overseas and cannot on this as it is at 65 lbs and 66 is max). The price I have it started at is a killer deal, actual value is roughly $1100 bucks, all out-of-print, good and better, collectable all-one-theme titles, BUT I am ready to sell.

Here's a link to a currency conversion site I use all the time:

http://msn.expedia.com/pub/agent.dll?qscr=curc&zz=994865192910

(sorry, don't know how to make this a link)

Based on that, he's offering you less than $500!

So I'd probably decline politely...who does he think he's kidding.

I would definitely insist on a shipping method that provides insurance (not all do) for something that size!

He has offered you a measly 493.00 if you are talking pounds.....plus YOU have to pay shipping and insurance costs!

http://www.xe.com/ucc/ is where you can go to convert one country's money to another's. Not only that, but it is not legal according to EBAYS rules, if the auction is already running, to end it and sell privately. you could end it, relist it with BIN, and let him buy it that way, though (if they were my books, and they were worth that much, I would actually probably reconsider listeing them separately, or whatever (and BTW, I would be interested in looking at your auction!) email me at [email protected] with the item nuber, pleeeessssseeee!)

thanks all! face all flushed with pleasure at your kindness!

I should clarify; collection is on Amazon, I post here 'cause this is where the action's at! On Amazing we can go in and alter the price. I would simply alter the price if I agreed with an offer. The buyer would be covered by the Amazon AtoZ Guarantee as long as they used that payment method. If he paid me by PayPal I believe they offer a guarantee also?
