eBay says tough luck!

Even if you and your buyer agree that it was the wrong thing to do, they say you have to pay $15 for some mediator to mediate and then they may remove it.

they won't remove it unlessthere is some sort of curse words or lies about ebay like ebay investigating fraud, or comments like authorities contacted for fraud.......i had 2 removed from jerks who did just that.one cursed and the other claimed fraud investigation.....i did have to stay on ebay, took about 5 days or so...........

Well, that undermines the whole feedback thing then doesn't. Is it really worth giving a no payer a neg if you receive one in return. This bidder has several negs for non payment. Non shipment of goods and slow ships, one took seven weeks to deliver. And e bay lets this kind of seller and bidder stay, that says a lot about their own their integrity doesn't it!!!!

Um, how exactly can eBay know who's right, and who's wrong, in every situation?

Just because some whacked out seller decides someone is a deadbeat, does it make it so?

I know a buyer/seller who was negged & reported as a deadbeat x 3 because his MO was lost in the mail. Sh!t happens, and eBay has no way of knowing who's being honest, and who isn't.

That's what feedback is for.

Well...

There's two SCHOOLS of thought:

OTOH: The School of the COMMUNITY WELFARE, which believes that negs are necessary for the COMMON WEAL!

OTOH: There's TOM'S SCHOOL OF the HECK with the eBay COMMUNITY, which believes that the FB system is TOTALLY flawed & worthless...therefore NEVER leave a NEG & hopefully ya won't get one in return!

Who's right? Who's wrong? for that matter, who's on first?

I personally think that NPBs deserve to be neg'ed, as well as bad sellers. Without leaving the appropriate feedback we'd never know what kind of people were dealing with would we. I appreciate seeing some indication of the type of person I'm deal with. I guess you just can quite judge a book by the cover can you, I ma sure there are a lot of those who are afraid of retaliation and don't leave the appropriate feedback.

HOWEVER...the FB system is TOTALLY skewed for the buyer! Nobody REALLY cares about the buyer's fb! If it gets nasty...they just re-register! It is a complete JOKE! As a seller (I rarely buy ANYTHING on eBay!), the FB is your symbol of trust for new buyers -- ya must protect it!

Maybe eBay will fix this mess soon -- I've been seeing pigs flying lately!

tomwiii,

I agree the feedback system is whacked but, like most things, there is the other side to consider.

With 3 NPBs, a buyer gets tossed.

But there's nothing on the other side to get a seller tossed.

What we also need is an NPS, a Non Performing Seller category.

There are LEGAL remedies for BOZO sellers, including MAIL-FRAUD charges and CREDIT CARD CHARGEBACKS!

Much easier to obtain financial satisfaction from a BAD SELLER than from a BAD BIDDER.

I think?

If you repond to the neg and include personally identifying information about the buyer, I understand ebay will remove both the response AND the neg...

if it is called to their attention (which you can do by using say a fake yahoo or hotmail account).

If you do this let us know how it goes...

tomwiii,

I believe the topic was getting results with ebay's feedback system, not the legal system.

Filing 3 NPBs will get a bad bidder kicked off ebay.

Filing chargebacks or mail fraud charges WON'T get a bad seller kicked off ebay.

We need a reasonable ebay remedy for both bad bidders AND bad sellers.

I think ebays feedback removal policy is something to the effect of:

If you complain about feedback we will remove you.

I actually admire the system and use it frequently. I am mostly a seller (FB 2800+) but I do buy. When I buy - I look at the # and the detail. I also exercise judgement. The fact that someone got a neg doesn't end the story.

Obviously, the negs and neutrals are what I want to know about. I should make it a suggestion to ebay to install a Non-Positive feedback only button.

I wish such systems were available for medical and legal professions.

To expect ebay to step in and judge every situation would bankrupt ebay. A quote from an attorney I once employed is "I'll fight them to YOUR last nickle." (said to put my issues in context to their cost to defend.)

In broad view, the feedback system is a body of knowledge - in itself neither good or evil. Use it wisely. With experience, buyers will learn how to distinguish.

I sport nearly 50 negs (I earned a few). I can be fiesty with jerk clients. I would welcome and easy way for buyers to view the negs/neutrals and judge for themselves.

I can't believe I said That?!!

What everybody else said...Also, if they put anything threatening in their feedback to you eBay will remove it.

Good luck with it but, as the others have pointed out, you are probably s.o.l.
