I was just checking out Half.com's shipping policys & noticed something weird. For the seller on say a paperback, the shipping policy is I get $1.78 on the first book & .61 on each additional book.
For the buyer it now simply states shipping is $2.30 for each book. It makes no mention of a reduced rate for additional books, even though they will go into the same box and often with PB's if they are small still come out to less than a pound(Louis L'Amour, old mystery's some old SCI-FI are all small)
Are the people at Half.com this dumb? They where all ready making a killing on shipping as it was. Don't they want people to buy lots of stuff?
Half.Com has enough problems without overcharging for shipping. They advertise themselves as the cheap place to buy books, but now even if someone puts a book out for the min. of .75 it still goes for over 3 bucks.

People are typically looking for just one or two books, so volume purchases might be something that comes into play only around Christmas.
A cheap book is still cheap with shipping compared to buying new.
Half is always getting a win-win on shipping. All the buyers who take sellers to task for padding their shipping fees NEVER mention Half. If I ever get a complaint I will just say say I am taking my practice from Half

We do multi-sales fairlly often, but not as often as we used to. The truth is Half.coms shipping rates often make used books comparable to new books. Now there is no benefit to buyers who buy more than one book. There is no reason for them not to buy one book on Half.com, click off & go to another site to buy the next.

how can half.com offer multiple books discount if more than one shipper is involved??
seldom does a buyer buy all his books from one seller?

Yes it does happen, as I stated above we used to get them much more often. If the buyer does it that way they come thru on the same order & generate one packing slip. If you have enough books out there people do find them. You may have more than one copy of the same book listed, that makes it easy. People envolved with book clubs ect.. buy multiple copies of the same book. Also buyers can go into your account to see what you have listed.
Half.com charged $2.30 a book. The dealer gets $1.78 for the 1st book. I have no problem with that. Half.com Charges $2.30 for the second book I get another .61. They used to have a volume discount. I am only going by what is stated in there policy right now. Has naybody bought multiple books from the same dealer lately? Maybe it just is not stated.

if you are a bookseller on amzn and half.com,the shipping allowance is barely enough to cover postage and material,i dont mind spending more if the book is heavy, but do most of us insure the books>>
