I always look forward to reading what you guys have found. We went out in the heat today and passed up a lot of JUNK. One sale had some nice older things, but their prices were way out there (one thing I saw was $175-- it was a collectible bear-- yikes).

Found a couple small things, but it wasn't a good day here. Hope everyone else did better!

Hit a Thrift store Wednesday night and got a few books and games.

Hit a few yard sales and found three cool things: An infant busy box from 1971 in the box, a book of artwork, and a memento soccer ball from a World Cup. Total spent? $2

Also found the mother of a good friend from high school. She was having a yard sale and actually remembered me. That was many years ago!

Hitting the streets again tomorrow. Love reading here what people are selling so when I see it, I can take a chance.

Went out yesterday and did pretty good.

For $2 I picked up a really cool pair of old compo nodder dolls. At the same sale I also bought three 1960's/70's dolls - Ginny, Ideal Velvet and a big blonde fashion type, not sure who she is yet. Some mini porcelain animals $1 a set and a table top pinball machine I just knew was worth a mint - turns out it's just barely worth the $3 I paid. Oh well, the kids are having fun with it!

Also picked up a Sega Pico system with 5 games for $20, a bunch of Strawberry Shortcake dolls 10 cents ea, 2 TY bear buddies (for xmas presents) $5 ea and 10 mint Precious Moments figures for $1-5 each.

Went to my friends sale yesterday,
scanner, in the box, $10.00, old quilt (for me), set of Barney sheets and comforter $5.00, set of Minnie Mouse sheets and comforter $5.00, stereo mixer $5.00.
I am going to list the scanner with a low start and a reserve, if the reserve isn't met, I'll keep it.

I don't do the yard/garage sales but I did my shopping today! I picked up 22 big & beautiful women's dresses, pant suit & skirt suits; 50+ big & tall men's shirts; several pairs of pants and shorts in 48-54 Waist; and 12 misses and junior girls size formal long dress.

Now I have to spend the week really working! But I do love days like today!

peiklk - The book sale is tomorrow! I still have plenty of cash left for that sale! I will be there when it opens. Don't know what I am looking for but I will certainly find plenty! Strange thing (I think, anyway) The ONLY advertising I have seen about this was on the public service local cable station.

If the price is right I will buy just about anything!

Forgot you were in that conversation too!

I was just being sarcastic since you bought all those clothes!

I need more crap like I need another hold in the head, but at 8 am sharp I left my house to see what bargains there were out there. I only had a couple I wanted to go to so the first one was a bust. Opened early and sold out early. The next was a moving sale. It's going to take forever for those people to move unless they give their items away. Well If there was 1 set of S&P there was over a thousand. The price was $8.00 for a set or also if they were other items with them, like a tray or relish. So I picked out my two pair only to go up stairs and there were a thousand coffee cups. Yks, imagine cleaning and dusting that stuff. When I came downstairs I notice the $8.00 price was scratched out and now $4.00 was put in it's place. I then picked out a few more sets. That price was in my budget. Left and then went to Lunch. Done for the day. Flea market tomorrow....I hope I don't burn...

Thanks, you all gave me better luck I think. Had a much better day today. Found a super nice (not minty though hee hee) Furskins bear for a quarter. She has her shoes and everything. Also found a huge pile of old cookbooks, other books, some toys and a neat glass flower. I think I spent about $7 total for everything (pretty good-- normally I spend too much too).

Hope you all had an excellent day too!
And even more importantly here is hoping BIDS are good this week!

Here's what I got at the SPCA rummage sale today:

1 pair of 6 inch high womens clogs
1 pair beaded women's tennis shoes
a really nice silky warmup suit
2 silk blouses
pair of Christian Dior slacks
2 large size dressy dresses
10 plaid wool skirts
a commemorative plate from the 1974 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid

I left the 2 pairs of ski boots, but I think I'm going back to see if they are still there tomorrow.

I only stopped at one sale today, and only stopped there because it was on my way to the grocery store LOL... but I did get one very cool item, an ashtray made from a WWII M18 shell with Egyptian designs carved into the sides... only paid a quarter for it, curious to see how it'll do

Joanne, be sure to list it in the Militaria category with "Trench Art" in the title. I've had good luck with these pieces when I've picked them up for the "right price", which you did.

Heck -- I don't know! LOL ... now I'm gonna have to go over to the storage unit and look at the plate before I go to bed. <sigh>

No problem... I seem to recall they occurred when I was in 8th grade or so. No Olympics were in 1974 -- they were 1972 and 1976 (synchronized years back then). Now they are staggered with the Winter, then 2 years Summer, 2 years Winter, etc.

Plate sounds cool though! Good find!

On the way home from the post office where I was mailing out an eBay shipment, stopped off at a sale...picked up a couple of first edition books and a first printing of Helen Thomas' book Dateline: White House. Don't know if it will be worth much but I haven't read it yet so will read it before I sell it. Also picked up a really nice book on telephones and John Muir's Wild America...all for a buck each. And it was cool here today ( a really nice change from the 107 from a few days ago) so shopping was pleasant!

Today, I went to a library book sale. Picked up NO real books ($1.00 paperback, $2.00 Hardback, thought it was pricey).

I did get 40 cross stitch leaflet for $4.00. Looked them all up already ebay prices $1.50-$12.00. I thing I did ok.

Now I just have to sell them all. I do not do cross stitch and have no desire to.

I found a little pink pottery mermaid that I've seen do very well on eBay for $3.00.

Also found some cow kitchen things - which don't do well on eBay, but do very well at the consignment shop: butter dish was 50 cents and the creamer sugar set was 50 cents.

And even though I was very picky about books this week because my inventory is about the size of one of my rooms, I found one sale that had a ton of books and got a bunch for a quarter a piece.

Please pray or light a candle for cooler weather in central Washington - the heat's been killing me, if I don't start listing more, they're going to find my lifeless body under a stack of books!

Sounds like a lot of great buys out there this weekend!

I got a really nice wing backed leatherette executive office chair for 30 bucks. I had been using an old side chair I picked out of the trash 6 years ago up until yesterday... my behind is in heaven!

Now I won't be able to get out of the chair to hit anymore sales! Lol!
